[he shrugs! he's not going to be full of himself and agree with that (and he's not even sure what to think of that in some cases), but he doesn't seem too uncertain either.]
The way I figure...there's no reason to not be friends with people in different dorms even with your whole dorm war thing going on. We all started out the same way, and now that things like the murders are happening...
[he pauses, kicking the ball and bouncing it off of his knees, chest and then over to luke with a soft bonk of his head.]
We don't know why it's happening. But it doesn't hurt to try to talk to people so that maybe they don't feel like they can't talk to somebody if something happens. I don't know. I'm not really good at it, but...[shrug! he's just kind of rambling now it's fine.]
[Everyone needs a Sora and a Taichi when they're Riku adjacent.]
I tried to tell them that in my welcome letter. It's a rivalry, but no one is better than anyone else.
[He takes a step back so he can catch the ball with his chest, letting it tumble down onto his knee and thigh. After bouncing it once, he drops it to the ground, and then swiftly kicks it without warning. Not at Taichi, but around him. He takes off running after it. See ya, loser.]
[YEAH, GOODBYE BALL. Luke runs with it bouncing ahead and between his feet. He stops very suddenly, and heads in the opposite direction to get around to the goal.
It's not every time! [it is every single time because taichi's an idiot. but he's quick on his feet and even when luke changes direction it doesn't take long for him to swing around and run after him.
before trying to slide and kick the ball out from under luke's feet. and possibly leaving luke to trip over him. no!!!!]
[HEY. His BALL. "It's Taichi's ball." HIS BALL. The one reason Taichi can manage to steal it so easily is because Luke pulls up short, his run and jog ebbing into a slow stop to catch his breath.]
I can--I plan to, but that doesn't mean they'll let me back on.
anyway taichi doesn't know about that in this thread, so he steals the ball and kicks it into his goal, turning to face luke instead of retrieving it immediately.]
At least you'd know. And if they don't, then maybe they aren't friends worth having anyway.
His mouth opens, but he can't find any way to argue that exactly. So his mouth shuts quickly, and he looks away, troubled. He has to choose between ambition, and friendship?]
I don't want to give up on what I want, but... I don't want to give up on friends either.
[he seems a little satisfied to know he made his point.]
I don't think there's an easy answer. But I do think there are other ways to get what you want. There's always going to be baseball no matter what and you can always join another team if that's all you want to do, but having good friends is harder to come by.
The only way you'll find out who'll stick with you is if you ask.

[god taichi cannot get into fall dorm fast enough to pretend not to be depressed with the rest of these fuckers]
I guess everyone in Fall Dorm needs someone like you as a friend.

We'll figure it out!

You can't keep using that same trick forever!
[yes he can and luke is valid for it, even if taichi's pretty faster and looking for an angle to steal his ball back.]

He's running!]
Better keep up!

It takes a second or two to recalibrate, but then he tries to make chase.]
You should really think about joining the soccer team when spring comes around!

We'll see! [on if there's time, if they're still here...if he's still alive...all that.] But I could maybe be convinced.

He turns backward and tries to dart directly in front of Taichi to see if he can pluck the ball away with a foot.]
This is me convincing you then.

Shouldn't we be focusing on getting you back on the baseball team instead?

But he does cut a quick look at Taichi.]
What makes you think they'll let me back on?

We had this conversation, man. You should really try to talk to your teammates again and just explain things.

I thought it was about being on the baseball team. I can't play if we don't get along.
[No, the GOAL. ARGH.]

You tell me. Do you care more about playing baseball, or about being friends with the people you used to play with?
