Usually I just grab whatever's available if I have to fight myself, but it's not really trained or anything.

[Reaching up, he rejects the offer by pushing the sword away with his palm.]

[What he does instead is curl his hand over Taichi's own on the hilt, using his other to straighten them both back to front. He position Taichi's arm at the ready with the sword.]

[why are you doing this. but okay, sure, he's letting luke do whatever and seems to be mimicking the stance and letting his arms move.]

Man, has Yamato told you anything? They were real ones, but usually our partners did most of the fighting. Sometimes we had to do things for ourselves to help though.

[sometimes you're eleven and grab a metal pole to try and beat the shit out of a monster much bigger than you. then it doesn't work because it's a monster much bigger than you. it's fine.]

[forward slash! it's easy enough to follow the movement through, blade coming down through the air and hand adjusting its grip to hold the weapon steady. give him a second to try it again.

there's a noise though that sounds more like an "oh, of course" kind of sound.]

Yeah. Those are our partners. They fight against Digimon that're evil. [in simple terms.] This is the second time we've shown up in another world out of nowhere.

[He lets Taichi go, stepping back to give the other boy a little room. This time, he crosses his arms.]

He said something about other worlds once. Oh. He did tell me about the eggs you found in the fridge.

[The ones they had to eat but didn't know if they were even good or not.]

Must be nice to go to different worlds and not be stuck in the same place all the time.

Out of everything, that's what he chose to talk about? We found eggs. Food was pretty hard to come by sometimes if we didn't forage on our own, and sometimes when we did find it it was all a huge illusion to trap us anyway. The eggs were actually one of the better experiences.

But what makes you think we weren't stuck there instead?

I guess you could have been. And things could've been bad. But...

[He glances away.]

[he doesn't think to say that it was months, and yeah things were bad, because he delivers another test swing before he glances back at luke.]

[Funny you should ask. The boy in the photo definitely looks like Luke. In fact, him and the other boy look like this, and the girl looks like this.

Luke is watching Taichi look at the picture. He glances at it himself, but then looks away like he did before.]

I guess all the others just didn't feel... like our destinies were connected.

[it's kind of cute. and familiar, in a way.]

Isn't that the thing about destiny though? Sometimes you don't really get a choice if you're connected or not.

[He looks at the photo again even though he already knows which one Taichi is probably pointing out. Surprisingly, he turns to face the corkboardto peer at it. He's trying to pretend like his look isn't fond.]

I don't know actually. We met on the beach back home. We didn't even ask each other our names. I guess we were too busy having fun. I didn't realize it until after we all left, when my parents asked me who they were.

I was hoping... maybe one day I'd run into them again.

When you're that young it's a lot easier to make friends. [idly.] Then again, I've been friends with the same people since elementary school. Who knows though? Maybe you will. Agumon was waiting for me for years before we finally met. And then it was a few years before we got to meet again.

[he finally does turn to hand luke the blade so he can put it back.]

I think that's why I've been doing it on my own. We just haven't got to the time where we met each other again.

[He sounds... worriedly hopeful maybe? When Taichi hands the blade back, he'll take it. Really does look like it fits his dumbass self. He'll go climb back on the couch to hang it on the wall again.]

Yeah. I came to this school because it was the only one with a good offer, but... I hoped maybe they would be here, too. [He steps down to the floor again.] I want to pass the entrance exam to get into college... so I've got a few more years.

I get it. There's a lot of things I've had to figure out how to do on my own, too, when I can't be with Agumon. You do things to try to be better for when you meet your friends again. Right?

The...offer to eat skittles? [teasing.] I should be thinking about my own entrance exams for university but...that's still a little time from now.

Am I allowed to ask you about the auction thing you and Viola are doing?

Sure. What do you want to know?

[yeah, just kill him. free me from everything. but he settles on a cheerful little grin. it softens a little though both at the thought of exams and then at the acknowledgement he can ask questions.]

The things you guys are offering are items that showed up in the catalogue just recently too, right? How did you decide it would be you and Viola auctioning them off?

Yeah. [He tilts his head, like he's trying to gauge why Taichi is curious.] There wasn't any reason to it.

We just decided we'd take them. She took one, and I took what was left.

Guess that makes sense. [he's just nosy most, and some other stuff.] But you said it had some conditions to it?

Yeah. If you win the bid, I'll explain them then.

[But... that's only if Taichi wins the bid.]

I think I have to follow whatever rules I'm given by the school if I want to help all of you any way I can.
