[hm. bad question. but it's also only fair to answer.]
...the first solution was to try to reboot the Digital World. We thought that by doing that, it would purge the infection entirely, even at the risk of losing everything including our partners' memories. The reboot worked, but Meicoomon still remembered. The infection was still there.
So...she evolved as a way to defend herself. And things got worse. We started talking about other options, and the option we had to settle on was destroying her ourselves. [which isn't great.] We hesitated too long. She became Ordinemon somehow...[...] I don't know exactly what was wrong. Something happened, and Earth was in danger. But we knew the only way to end it was to end her. She wasn't herself anymore, but Meicoomon was still in there somehow. Ordinemon had grown too powerful and out of control...we didn't have another choice.
...so we ended it. [sometimes. you mercykill a friend.]
Yeah...Mochizuki's the one who asked us to do it, but...Meicoomon was still her partner. The bond between a chosen and their partner is pretty much unbreakable. [so losing a partner is terrible.] But it was the only way. My sister wanted us to find a way to save her, but that option was no longer available to us no matter how much we may have wanted it.
[he folds his arms over his chest loosely, leaning back against whatever wall is available.]
...I want to believe that maybe that's how Caiman felt in the end, too. Even if he didn't remember killing Molly, knowing that it was possible and knowing it could happen again probably wasn't the greatest revelation.
Yeah. I don't know how many of us would be able to accept something like that. [...] Someone told me that it's possible there are other people who have killed under another influence. And that it could happen again. If this place can toy with us like that, how are we supposed to stop that?
And the root's hidden just enough that we haven't been able to trace back to it yet. It's something big enough that it was able to control you guys for so long. Let's just hope it doesn't come down to that again.
... To change society's views on certain matters. Compared to that, unsealing and defeating a god would be the easy task.
[towards the end of his life, all hugo lived for was his cause—even more so with the knowledge of his impending sacrifice. but the truth of the matter is, even if he was given another chance, the only thing he could ever think to do would still be the same.]
I don't have any regrets over my death. [besides leaving behind a grieving friend.] So, I've never thought much about it. However, that would be my answer.
Makes sense to me. I guess it's just...[he frowns slightly.] Maybe it doesn't matter, but it's frustrating to think that whoever brought us here brought you here, too, and then they'll just send you right back instead of letting you rest.
[like. it sounds like it would be jarring to die trying to help and then get stuck here for weeks instead.]

again, hugo looks like he's thinking about something else for a moment, before he turns his gaze back at taichi.]
... Based on that info, I would've done the same. [...] Personally, if that happened to me, I'd rather others kill me than let me endanger others.

Mm. The idea of losing control of yourself like that can be one of the most terrifying things there is.

No. The only thing I'd want with a future is something that can't be done anywhere else.

Got an idea what that'd be?

I guess I was just wondering. It's not like you have to want something more. I just wanted to ask. [there's a shrug.] It felt right.

If they were going to bring someone into this farce, one way or another, then it might as well have been me.
