You are the one studying politics, right? A lot of the political types don't tend to appreciate distractions from their own agenda. Easier to pretend it's less of a threat than the thing you want to be focused on and hope it goes away?

... I see... Yes, that does tend to happen. Though I think it rather unforgivable when it does. The primary agenda of a civil servant is to serve the people, and you'd think helping stop some malevolent force from harming the common people would stop that.

Well, if I were in all of your shoes, I'd certainly be just as dubious. That's what I've told a few people now, so I don't mind the additional searches for information and understanding.
