Your brother grins. "Don't worry about that. When I was still strong enough to go out, I spoke to a friend who's a merchant from the North. He said he could hire soldiers to protect the village. They'll take care of them."
"... Right." The reality of it all is a fog that hangs over your head, but you do your best to focus on the conversation at hand. You can't avert your eyes from the truth any longer.

"Then, where do you want to go?" you ask.
"Haven't thought about it yet," your brother replies, with cheer that you know isn't entirely genuine. "The army from the North sent us an invitation, but I don't like them very much."
You sigh. "Forget about the North. Their civil war has barely ended. Things still aren't stable over there."
"I know... Look, Hugo, we just have to leave." A hint of desperation leaks into your brother's voice. "We'll figure something out on the way."]
