ALSO THIS ISN'T A FENCING STANCE EITHER YOU FUCK. Good thing he doesn't know a fencing so he's just standing here looking at this weird fucking stance like binch.]
—It is, yes. You can jab with a katana, but its design focuses on the bladed edge, so the forms and styles also reflect that. Still, I'd imagine there are some similarities between even such different swords... You likely know more about weight distribution and balance while in motion than someone who's never touched any sort of blade before, for example.
[WHO THE FCK. WHY????? VEN??? HELLO. I HATE IT HERE.
Anyway he's just nodding, and there's a teeny tiny little Sakyou smile on his face.]
It's the same with blades such as this, too. If you underestimate the length, you could easily end up missing an important block and taking a direct hit instead. Likewise, you could swing and overshoot your opponent.
[Sometimes you hold a keyblade in a backhand stance. It's fine. AND WOW A SMILE? SAKYOU IS SMILING? Maybe it's a grimace because of the anime coughing sickness he has.]
Do you always fight in the same way with each other? What if someone fights differently?
Anyway, there's just a little nod from him! And then he's sliding forward, keeping light on the footwork and heavy on the upper body movement. He's not intending on going all out with broken legs man not even he's that stupid... It's clear he's mostly just testing how good of a grasp on stance, balance and other basics Luke has.]
The movement startles him in the wary sort of way. He doesn't seem panicked so much as extremely cautious about how Sakyou is coming toward him. His eyes don't jump around, they stay focused on Sakyou's face.
His body moves on reflex, sliding backward and away. He doesn't waste a swing with the strange sword. But he ready!]
[Okay, Sakyou is mean. Because Luke doesn't feel like being totally defensive all the time. But it feels... wrong being offensive toward someone who is injured.
His grip tightens, his hand, his arm, like he is going to swing to start, but Sakyou does it first. It worries him. He shoves the strange sword forward to try parrying the sheathed blade.]
It's easy enough to step back after being parried, though; he'd normally simply allow his blade to slide, but that's hard with such a weird fuckin sword.]
[SIR YOUR SUDDEN OFFENSE. Sakyou's very clearly A Trained Swordsman since despite the look of brief surprise on his face and the buckle in his left leg as he quickly steps back, he reacts to the strike almost on autopilot, blocking it and pushing it away from himself.]
—You sound like quite the worrier yourself, in that case.
[Okay, so Luke is now sure Sakyou isn't full of shit. Not that he thought the guy was completely, but sometimes you never know. The quick, skilled defense makes him jump back into his previous position, cautious.]
Someone has to worry about the worriers. I can't help there's too many of you.
[WOW don't doubt his prowess as a samurai, damn. He shifts back into a new stance, careful to hold a little more of his weight on his right leg. It's a careful move that someone without practice and experience in swordsmanship would probably miss.]
What, then - will you accept worry from the worriers? Though it will happen regardless of your acceptance, I suppose... That sounds like quite a cycle.

Sakyou asks if he has no experience, but once facing him with sword drawn, Luke falls into a stance like it's second nature.
(sakyou voice) fool this is not a ye olde samurai stance]
I know fencing, but fencing is about jabbing and not slicing. Is that how this is?
[me at the end of this choosing an icon: wow i had an icon of the stance i didnt need to bother linking it]

I get it. The sword for fencing is lighter than this one. In fencing, you have to be aware of your reach, and your opponent's reach.

There are different fighting styles, yes. Some are designed specifically to seek out the weaknesses in the style of another school's teachings.
[Sometimes people really shoot for the kneecaps even in Honorable Swordfighting, damn.]
So adaptability and quick thinking are just as vital as learning good form.

The same with fencing mostly. Alright. I'm ready.
[He hasn't lowered the strange sword exactly, but he doesn't look like he's going to fly in swinging on Sakyou.]

[He's glad to not be dealing with a New Challenger who likes to swing things around fastly and with reckless abandon today, unlike SOME PEOPLE.
Moving forward again, this time he brings his sheathed blade forward in a relatively simple strike, just to see what sort of block may follow.]

You don't need to worry about me.

[This time, he leaps forward suddenly, bring the blade around and down for a diagonal strike.]

[He'll absolutely worry about Luke now, PUNK.]
