I agree with this. We must call him by the name he wants to be called, and we must not try to force him to recall things when he is under a compulsion not to. But we can try to bring these things up with him. And if he does not wish to hear it, then let that be a choice he makes rather than a decision we make for him.

And the confusion can be, uhm, distressing and painful. But that does not mean. . . I would not have wanted people who care for me to play along just for only my comfort.
