In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches (one looks as though it doesn't quite belong) and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there's something.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

Pasted on the wall by the coffee machines is a detailed but clear handwritten guide on how to use said machines, complete with illustrations. There are also cute little doodles of Spring Dorm residents using the machines and drinking coffee, though they look as though they were done by someone else.

It's nothing crazy, though. Just something I don't have a lot of experience with.

So... this is something the school's been annoyingly unclear about, but I had some talks with the dorm heads about the specifics to get a better idea.

You can tell people and ask them directly for help, if it's just a couple people in private.

You can't tell the whole world, and if you're doing an assignment that requires deception, you can't do it with someone you're telling your assignment to, since that defeats the purpose.

Oh, that explains why Mabel couldn't say why she was accusing Claude at trial but was able to tell me later in private.

Yeah. And Rita just said it's important for people to do the extra credit, so.

I don't know why she waited until so late in the trial to do it... and accused Claude of all people..... he's already been suspected so much.

[ she's a child and also gestures at the whole weekend so maya won't get too mad, but she's pretty annoyed and defensive of claude!! ]

Well, luckily... no one took that accusation seriously.

Well. It's Mabel. She's not like... a genius strategic mind.

Okay, no, two things here-- first, if you're telling all of us you're doing it, that's maybe not the best start. Second, supervise what.

Well as long as I dose it correctly I should only be uncomfortable for a few hours. But if you want to volunteer to get poisoned instead, that's fine with me.

All right. So. By default, you know about this assignment because it's yours, so I sort of doubt they're going to let you get away with just inconveniencing yourself, and you just-- you told us all you were considering doing it. Don't.

[ Claude is still not looking at Maya, but there's some sappy affection coming from him. ]

[ .... but she also is happy to feel his affection like a nerd. it's like when you tell a dog they're a good dog ]

That definitely was not the trial to do it in, but at least it's out of the way now.
