WINTER COMMON ROOM - WEEK 5

common room.

Similar to the rest of the architecture, the common room in the Winter Dorm is almost more reminiscent of a tea room or parlor that you would find in a manor. A chandelier hangs above, everything in the room glistening in the light that is both welcoming and just a tinge cold. Seating is available for a number of people to gather, adjusting each week to seemingly accommodate a little bit over the number of people assigned to the dorm. A piano doesn't sit too far, and sometimes when the room isn't too full, it's almost like a beautiful classical melody will begin to play itself to make up for the empty space.

Or... is that a showtune...?

Who can say?

This week, something else has been provided!

specialty room.

However on the first floor, there's an oddity amidst the serene architecture. One of the rooms opens to a Gaming Lounge, complete with screens that stretch across the entirety of one wall length-wise. Incredible comfortable chairs and couches sit opposite the screen, comfortable enough to steal you away from the outside world for hours upon hours. A series of gaming systems are hooked up to the screens, and a small tower of handhelds sit on a bookcase nearby. Every game you can think of is downloaded and programmed onto each device, though every time you start one up it seems to immediately pull up an otome game or farming simulator. The lighting system changes between a rainbow of colors, and one wall is lined with snacks that are a little less decadent but still just as delicious. The room will adjust based on the needs of the game you play, a wall spinning out to roll out DDR dance pads, virtual reality goggles, or whatever you could need for the ultimate gaming experience.

No, it isn't incredibly reminiscent of Dude Perfect's Game Time Lounge. You're imagining it. (But really, click the link for a better idea of what the room looks like.)

Please use this as an open post for members of Winter Dorm. You may post top-levels whenever you'd like and go wild. A new post will go up at the start of each week.

Plot hole.

[Discuss???]

. . . I was talking to Riku a bit. That if this is all based on scripts, perhaps we need to give them something else that will satisfy what the script wants, other than murder.

Perhaps this is something along similar lines - we manipulate the script not by giving it something else, but creating or identifying the flaws?

[ huh. ]

...so basically roast the bad writing?

Or, uhm, notice what doesn't make sense with it. I had a conversation with Riku where he kept, uhm, bringing up the things that don't really go with what the script is. The trial, some of the extra credits.

[ nods... ]

Like... the good stuff, right? If they just want us all killing each other. Being able to resurrect people probably doesn't fit the 'spicy script' or whatever.

[ he frowns, though, a little frustration leaking through. ] ...What do we do with that, though? Lean into it...?

Maybe it's. . . whatever doesn't fit with the script must have some other purpose?

[ he scrubs his face. ]

...yeah. Whatever that is, it can't be worse than the one we've got.

Plot hole. [she repeats, staring up at the ceiling.]

I talked to Riku too. Wasn't exactly satisfied with playing along, like he suggested. The whole murdering us for our own good thing is all well and great but I'm not a fan.

... Flaws, huh? Do we even know any?

...The other day, Taichi and I were talking about the people who got compelled versus the people who had to do it for whatever reason. [ he's not saying otome but you know ]

The person who got compelled into killing Sieghart said that they woke up on Thursday night and felt like killing this one person would be the thing that would solve everything. But then, from Saturday, we learned they were supposedly told to kill people to "save them"....

Those two things don't really match up, right? Kill one person who's the problem versus kill lots of people to save everyone. Is that a plot hole?

[tilts her head back.]

I could see it as a plot hole, sure. At the very least it's an inconsistency.

So... if we're looking at it like a fiction, which is the truth, and which is what the red text wants?

[ confusing..... ]

I guess that's what finish the story actually means. Choose our own adventure, or whatever.

I think it's more - there are things that don't make sense with what the script wants. Even if it wanted us to kill each other for 'spicy drama,' why have a trial? Why are some extra credits the way they are?

Yeah, the trial is the sticking point for me. [rubs face] Seems kind of contradictory.

If the killers are trying to help us, it'd make sense for this place to give us trials to get rid of them and stop them from ruining the drama. But like, in that same vein, wouldn't they want the killers to roam free? What's the point of the trials, then? Who are they serving?

... That's a plot hole, I guess.
