FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 5

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

Not every combination of people will get along, and this is a natural thing.

But... It is always worth trying to get to know one another.

So it's just...luck, then. That Fall gets along so well.

...what about all the pranks you guys do? That's what the bread thing was before, right?

[ lux feels like she is failing this pep talk but isn't sure where else to go with it. ]

I... I suppose I do consider myself lucky to know everyone else from this dorm...?

The pranks are childish. I do not condone them.

But do you think they help? In making Fall more...Fall-y.

... Any group activity will bring people together. It's a matter of making memories and sharing experiences.

[ sighs ] I thought we'd done that too, but I guess not well enough...

[illuminance]

Not all relationships will take the shape you want them to. It is better to focus on those that naturally fall into what you want than to try and reshape what is not suited to it.

You mustn't think of this as a personal failing, Mabel. It's just... The way things are, sometimes.
