The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

Sunday evening

[Lalli has spent a good part of the day after the execution out and about. But when he comes back, it's with a grim sense of determination in his eyes.

...instead of just telling everyone he wants a meeting, he's going to go up to them, one by one, and grab their hand to drag them to the common room. And then leave them there as he gets the others.

But once everyone has been gathered:]

I realized something.

After Byleth was revealed, Catra killed her. I think she was compelled. After Otome was revealed, Tsuyukusa killed her. We know he was compelled.

The other killer, they're still hidden. But some people might be able to guess who they are, from what we figured out at trial. And we don't know how many is 'too many', or if even being able to guess is 'too much'.

I think someone who didn't kill Leo should claim to be his killer. To everyone. To protect the person who actually killed. That way, if the people think the wrong person is the killer, they won't be compelled to kill the actual killer. Because we need to keep that person alive.

[It's pretty clear he's about to say "I'll do it," but he's waiting to see what other people think first.]

Catra wasn't compelled.

So first off, your premise doesn't work.

Don't you think it's weird that killers we caught at trial keep getting targeted immediately after they're caught?

I think that I talked directly to Catra and that she thought it was better for Byleth not to be forced to kill, even if that meant she had to kill her to stop her.

[ he lets out a breath ]

The two weren't related. And yes, Yanagiya-san was targeted by this place, but there were a lot of signs and warnings it was going to do so. We haven't caught Leo's killer at all, and no one is going to believe you if you pretend it was you, because they can't say anything at all unless they're caught.

[just...tiredly squinting.]

Like Yamato said, she wasn't compelled. And the problem with someone unrelated claiming that they killed Leo is we don't know if somebody who isn't compelled won't go after that person anyway. It's a risky move either way.

She could have been. Catra's too prideful to admit if she was compelled.

It's risky, yes. But we were warned about not letting the killers die.

No. Catra told me her reasons why she did it, and it wasn't a compulsion. Both of the people who have been compelled have said it was because they felt that they had to kill Sieghart and Otome-san in order to save this place and make things better. Prideful or not, it was something different.

We were warned and there's no saying that lying about it isn't going to compel someone to kill you and Leo's killer. We've had multiple bodies for weeks now. And we know this story knows more than we do. It's not like covering for whoever killed Leo is going to trick the story itself. That's the problem.

[ hope probably has not left his blanket nest besides, like, for food and showers and stuff, so he's already in the common room when lalli starts gathering everyone. even after yamato jumps in with the correction, he's still giving lalli an extremely dubious look. ]

...Were you seriously going to volunteer to sacrifice yourself?

...didn't want to say anything without being willing to do it myself.

[He does sound a bit sheepish there.]

[ a bit snappish, i'm sorry: ] Lalli. You are a member of Fall Dorm, and when we arrived, I said that I would protect all of you.

Do not make that a more difficult task than it already is.

[ well... if anything, he respects lalli for that. ]

I...I get it, but I don't think that'll help anybody, least of all yourself. At best, it just gets everyone distracted because they don't believe you...at worst, it gets you killed. We need to figure out something else– something that doesn't involve throwing ourselves or each other to the wolves.

[Manwol's here with bowls of maybe bland curry (unless yamato staged an intervention), but her face looks like Lalli just slamdunked curry all over her best outfit (which he can still do)]

Lalli. You are not going to claim to be Leo's killer.

[I mean he's done that in canon, but he won't do it here. Not to Manwol at least.]

Well we need to do something, do you have a better idea?

I don't. But I do think that whoever volunteers might still get killed. It would be just like this place to do that.

Well we need to do something.

[He won't push too hard on 'let me sacrifice myself' though. He wasn't too keen on that idea anyway.]

That's a stupid idea. The real killer is responsible for what they have done. No one else should have to carry any blame.

[He makes an irritated noise.]

Well even if the idea is stupid, it's still a problem we need to solve.

I think you should not focus on the matters you cannot control, such as one another's actions and retaliations.
