FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 5

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[He looks at the note.

He looks at the maid outfit.]

I'm not wearing that.

slowly, channeling the ghost of a broke college student:]

Will we get compensated if we do, though?

[ staring ]

... Probably.

[ he wants to reject it but their money? ]

[silentscout]

I'm still not wearing it. You cannot pay me enough to wear it.

[ghoststrums]

There's usually guys too in maid cafes, so where the hell are the outfits for that?

[silentscout]

It's not even about guys clothes versus girls clothes, I've worn things this long before. It just looks itchy.

[ghoststrums]

[ ... ]

There's a ton of them, how do they all look itchy?

[ and why have you worn a skirt before lalli ]

[silentscout]

I can just tell.

[Tunics are the height of Finnish fashion in the year 91/2104.]

[ghoststrums]

[ looking at the maid outfits curiously ]

That would have saved me a lot of grief at Christmas...

[ knowing which sweater is itchy ]

[silentscout]

The answer is to just never wear anything new. Ever. If you find something you like, keep wearing that.

[ghoststrums]

[ ......... no but he just looks curious ]

It's a sensory thing, then?

[silentscout]

Mhmm.

[He's glancing at Yamato curiosly now. It's the right answer, but he hadn't expected anyone to notice.]

[ghoststrums]

You're the same way with sounds. [ he's noticed!! it's been enough weeks!!! ] Does it affect food too?

[silentscout]

Sometimes. And loud sounds too, sometimes.

[Yamato was already one of his favorites but now he appreciates him even more.]

[ghoststrums]

[ yamato is a mom friend just a belated one ]

Have you ever tried headphones? Like noise-cancelling ones, for when it gets too much. [ he's thinking over some other things too clearly ]

[silentscout]

Leo mentioned those, at the auction. I'd have to try them, but I don't want all the sound to be cancelled. I can block out part of it so it's not so loud anyway.

[He lifts his hands to the sides of his head to cover his ears. The gesture might look familiar to Yamato, because it's what he had been doing at the Winter Formal when he was listening to Yamato play.]

[ghoststrums]

[ yeah, there's a look of realization at that motion and he nods ]

There's some that just muffle, I think? I've never looked too much into it before. [ hmmm ] How do you deal with the clothes thing?

[silentscout]

Underclothes.

[It would have been visible in strip checks, but he does wear shirts similar to this oneunderneath his clothes. Close-fitting, and they cover him from neck to wrist.]

[ghoststrums]

[ he doesn't watch lalli strip!!! but he nods a little ]

So worst case scenario, if we do have to do this [ though he doesn't seem like he thinks so ] you could always keep your regular clothes on underneath. Or put something else under.

[silentscout]

[He still looks like he doesn't want to, but.]

...maybe with things on underneath...

[Yamato is one of the four who could convince him to do it.]

[ghoststrums]

Mm. Since if we do end up doing it as a dorm [ again he doesn't seem like he thinks that will actually happen ], it'd look weird if you were the only one left out.

[silentscout]

Mmm. Alright. If everyone else is doing it too.

And I want my cloak still.

[ghoststrums]

If we actually do end up all doing this, I want your cloak, too.

[ he's only half joking ]

[silentscout]

[of course he's taking that literally.]

You may borrow it during times of need, but you must give it back.

[ghoststrums]

[ blinks and then remembers the time lalli gave him his cloak and kind of smiles ]
