On Monday at 9 PM, Nier receives an encrypted e-mail.

No one is in the halls as Nier creeps to the Student Health Service Office. The door opens, and Luke waves him inside.

There is a trendy plastic letter board standing up on the counter which reads:

DOCTOR WHO
● DOCTOR or WHO?
● DOCTOR will spare someone from execution on Sunday, but under certain conditions. WHO? will allow the removal of a single piece of evidence. If no evidence is known, use "wildcard" to make it random.
● This choice is only active during the current week.
● You have to pick one or the other (doctor or who), not both.
● Deadline is Tuesday, 6 PM.

There's always a new addition to the school rules or something on Tuesdays, right? It seemed weird to me that there's a curse going on starting Monday each week, then something like this lags behind later. Unless that's just how this place works.

If someone is behind those, then... you're going to have to figure out who it would be. If the rest of you can't really talk about what you're doing exactly, I assume they aren't going to be willing either.

So if you're going off who seems most likely to give hints, you might be wrong.

They'd also have to be the type that would make up those kinds of rules, right? Someone that would just decide we should all act like animals?

[ HM. THINKY. ]

Mmm. Not necessarily. You get two choices, don't you? Maybe they have choices, too?

They could think it's entertaining? They're good at hiding, too. So maybe... someone sneaky?

[ Nier nods. Hmm. ]

Not necessarily, but it's possible. Have you guys made a list of people you suspect?

[He peers at Nier for a long moment, thoughtful.]

Do you remember what you get if you happened to successfully save someone?

Nier just closes his eyes. ]

I wouldn't bank on vouchers so much since there are a lot of ways to get them. But... maybe the person you're looking for in your list always has some to spare, depending on what they get from what they do?

Something to keep in mind.

I feel after the voucher count we had in the past trial and maybe looking at trials overall, we can try to approach some people. Maybe those with more consistently strange numbers.

Do you know how many vouchers the doctor role gives for properly working?

I don't know actually, not until you've been successful. But you have a difficult job, so... I assume it's more than one or two.

But something like what we're talking about... What would a success mean? Would it be derived from how many people do it if it isn't a compulsion? And if it is a compulsion, then they wouldn't get any?

You're asking the wrong guy. I don't have a clue. But it's a rule, right? Would you really want to waste your time if it were you?

Think about it together. Use your heads. Listen to what they think, too. If someone doesn't sound reasonable, try someone else.
