FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 7

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

For Demacia to accept mages. The immediate disbandment of the Mageseekers, and an end to all laws against them.

But it feels so vast. And I wonder if it's a wish that could be sent into the past - even if only a short time back. Or farther back? But then I don't know how that might impact things.

And at the same time, that wish feels too small. If I am freeing one people from suffering, could I not wish for something more grand to help more people?

[He lightly flicks her on the forehead.]

Be selfish. Demacia's your home, ain't it? Then make it the way you want.

[ she frowns and swats his hand, but doesn't seem too bothered. ]

Does it count as resolve to magically wish away your problem rather than facing the world as it is?

And - what of the people who hold fear and hatred so close to their hearts? Would it be mind control to cleanse them of it?

[ she has a lot of questions and no real reason to filter them! ]

If you know what ya want, just get it. People are afraid of things that are different from 'em. Power, people, doesn't matter. What's strange could be dangerous.

Do ya really think they're better off fearing and hating magic?

[Since it's near the end, and he's already died for it-]

I'm gonna make sure we never have to fight the Great Calamity again.

[ you know what, she's happy to just shift focus. ]

Ensuring that it doesn't return again sounds like a wonderful wish.

[Oh. She just dodged her problems, didn't she?

He looks a little amused.]

It feels as if I do nothing but talk about my problems.

It's good you're able t' do that at all. Some people can't put shit into words.

For most of this "story," I was unable to put things into words by risk of killing someone by heart attack.

... But I do owe you an apology for before that. I should have been more honest with everyone from the start.

[ this was not really the point, but she's been wanting to say it to him since he came back. ]

This isn't really something he's used to. People apologizing to him... And they aren't even all that close.]

For not bein' able to say how you felt about Demacia's policies?

Yes. It would have been better to be more true to myself and my own opinions.

[ I do think their world similarities are funny and if I don't get at least the vague imagery of closure before I end this game between these two I think I'll die instead so like, later, after she's had her convo with Bradley and if she's near -- ]

Mm. Where I'm from, magic is considered 'evil.'

Which it isn't.

Yeah. So you've heard half the story and all, but it's pretty much the same in Hole. There used to be an entire militia dedicated to taking them out, until one half-mage pretty much wiped out their entire deal.

Not all Sorcerers are evil, though.

[illuminance]

... We have the Mageseekers.

Hole's was called the Militia. Not super imaginative, is it.

Being on both sides of this human-Sorcerer thing really drives home how stupid that is.

[illuminance]

It's incredibly stupid. All it does is make monsters out of men who perhaps wouldn't have been.

Yeah, you're right. If only you could go back in time and hit wherever it all started in the head.

A nice idea. But perhaps a bit too lofty a wish.

Is it? If you can wish for it then I don't see why the hell not. You're giving me some pretty good ideas, even. If the world's better, maybe it'd make for happier people in the long run, sounds good to me.

Demacia was founded by those fleeing a magic war that destroyed their homes. Over a thousand years ago.

Changing something so far back is dangerous.

...Fair enough. I don't even know when Sorcerers and humans became a thing, when Sorcerers in general started picking on humans. [ The answer is, since their creation, unfortunately. ] But if you can't change the past, guess there's always the present...
