The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

On one of the tables is a welcome basket.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

Do you know this game, Monopoly? Have you played it before?

[ he seems calmer after cat pets, and he stares at the monopoly box blankly for a second ]

I think that game is why my parents divorced.

Is it? Well, that's no good.

[He reacts so mildly, like he probably understands that was a joke but it isn't clear.]

... I've never played too many of those, but Monopoly is meant to be frustrating. It only ends when everyone but one person loses all their money. Do they have the game of Life? That one's got an ending.

They have it. This is a game about getting married and having children? [Really. . .]

Sure, that sounds fun.

[Look, frankly he doesn't care about the game, he's just going along with the distraction plan.]

I think I was in grade school the last time I played it, but the rules are easy enough.

[ maybe this will be a good distraction plan? forced heterosexuality??? ]

They do seem a lot simpler. . .
