FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 0

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

On one of the tables is a welcome basket.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[ Hi, still stuffing food into his mask hole. And evidently speaking with his mouth full. ]

Ya, names and identities are pretty important until you know you can trust each other. Who're you by the way? And where are we?

Hmm... Well, I suppose that's true! I'm Kuon Ichinose, as to where we are...

[She trails off, cocking her head. And then, brightly:]

I've got noooo idea.

[ Huh! ]

You don't got a mask on. A lotta people here don't. What's up with that? And it's way too clean to be Hole.

[ Trust him it's relevant. Maybe. ]

... Huh? What do you mean?

[headsplitter]

Masks? [ Pointing to his own head, here. ] You don't own one?

[txt]

[A shake of her head.]

Nope! Is that important?

Sure? Think for non-Magic Users, it's to hide from one of them. Not scared, huh?

I wouldn't say that... But I don't think I follow. Magic users?

[headsplitter]

Yeah? Magic Users, people who can produce smoke and do all kinds of freaky things, like turn people into bugs. Never heard of 'em?

Not in real life. Now, if we were talking about fiction...

[headsplitter]

Hey! It's not fiction, it's my real life!

Oops! Sorry, sorry. Maybe that wasn't right of me... It is something out of a story for me, though.

If everyone is as out of sorts as I am, it's not surprising.

Fair enough! I guess good manners is the last thing on everyone's mind, in a situation as strange as this one...

I don't blame them. I only think names would be a matter of convenience.

And practicality. Could you imagine calling each other "that guy," "you there," or "crocodile man" for however long we're here?

And I'm sure the nicknames people are sure to settle on would create unnecessary conflict.

Especially between the people who get off on the wrong foot...

Luckily things seem to be going well enough, so far. I suppose.

[ multiple people have weapons but no one has been shot or stabbed, so! ]

So far! [Until she annoys Lalli, but anyway—] But it looks like you'll be alright if a fight does break out, huh?

[She gestures. At the armor.]

We can hope, unarmed as I am.

Who knows? Maybe the armor will be enough of a deterrent.

At the very least, I'll feel more comfortable trying to get in the way of conflict.

Of which there will hopefully be none.
