The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

On one of the tables is a welcome basket.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[ this little nerd also waits until a couple other people have taken the opportunity to introduce themselves before he chimes in, wringing his hands as he holds a cookie between them. ]

Um...Hope. I mean, I'm Hope, that's—that's my name, I'm not just saying the word randomly.

[ aw. ] That's a lovely name.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Hope. [ and since he looks pretty nervous, she adds: ] Don't worry. I'm sure we'll figure this all out, in time, and we don't seem to be in any danger.

[ when lux tells him not to worry, he visibly relaxes. like, not a lot, but enough that you can see that some of the tension about him is gone. ]

I know you're just trying to help, but...it's kind of hard to believe that we're safe here. I feel like it's too early to say something like that.

[illuminance]

... That's true. I suppose it's better to say that we don't seem to be in any immediate danger.

But I don't intend to let anyone get hurt, should anything change.

[ whoa... cool lady... he gives her armor a quick once over before he nods sheepishly. ]

You...you really mean that?

[illuminance]

Of course.

I'm still a Crownguard, after all.

So... you're a soldier?

[ light vibes... ]

Yes, something like that.

It's my duty to uphold justice and protect others.

[selfestheim]

That's... really brave of you. I could never see myself doing something like that even after I get older. It's just... it seems like that's a lot of responsibility to have.

[illuminance]

That's nothing to worry about. It isn't as if everyone needs to shoulder such responsibilities.

We protect others because they have the right to live their lives out safely, even if under the strength and bravery of their comrades.

...Doesn't it scare you?

[ beat ]

Sorry, forget I said anything. You don't even know me, but I'm asking you these kinds of questions...

I don't mind the questions at all.

I can't say that I never get scared... But I want to live up to everyone's expectations. If they have faith in what I'm capable of, then so should I.

...People believing in you is what motivates you?

It was at first.

But I believe in myself, now.
