FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 0

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

On one of the tables is a welcome basket.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[lalli immediately joins kissa in being the only valid people in this room,

Manwol glances over at where Kissa is being fawned over and turns her gaze back to Lalli, hm.]

Your cat can sense ghosts?

[silentscout]

No. She can smell Trolls. But I can see ghosts, and I haven't seen anything.

[This is why they work well as a team tbh.]

Why? Did you see any ghosts?

[lifeless]

[trolls..... okay, Manwol gives him an appraising look, then frowns.]

...Not at the moment, but I should be seeing them everywhere. That's why I asked. [she's already uncomfortable and she hates it] What do you see when you look at me? Do I look like a regular human to you?

[please say no, lalli. please tell her that you see a ghost, so manwol can go back to living in a world where everything is normal and no one was kidnaped to school]

[silentscout]

[He's going to actually try looking at her, not just with regular eyesight, he actually screw up his face a bit in concentration like he's trying to draw on some kind of internal power. But after a few moments he blinks and looks confused.]

...I can't feel my magic.

[He sounds Concerned about that too.]

[lifeless]

[LALLI....

Manwol's worst fears are being rapidly realized, but she's had an inkling ever since she woke up and screamed about the decor. She picks up a cupcake and bounces it once or twice in her hand,]

That makes two of us then. I shouldn't be visible to anyone who's alive, and I should have the power to send this brownie flying across the room. But it seems like I can't do either.

[silentscout]

I should be able to see ghosts and use my magic, but I can't do either. It's like my 'third soul' is gone entirely from my body.

...the dreamworld. Maybe magic still works there?

[He says this like he expects Manwol to know about the dreamworld.]

[lifeless]

[u know what she absolutely knows what a dreamworld is, the kdrama version that is]

I can't enter any of my dimensions -- dreams or otherwise at the moment. Can you?

[silentscout]

I'll see.

[He's going to settle down on one of the couches nearby and pull his cloak hood up over his head. For a moment it might look like he's meditating, but he actually managed to fall asleep pretty quickly.

He's actually asleep too rather than being in a "light sleep, dreamwalking" kind of sleep, since no magic here. So it might be a good while before he wakes up.]

[lifeless]

[Manwol will Wait, since there's nothing urgent she needs to do anyway. She sits in her chair and tries not to spiral down in a mix of Anger and Negativity and Paranoia about why they're all here. she ends up ripping up a bunch of discarded cupcake wrappers into a million pieces, but it's fine. after ripping up her sixth one, she glances at Lalli, gets up, and leaves.



And comes back with a blanket, which she'll drape over Lalli if Kissa lets her. what, it's cool in here??? please do not perceive.]

[silentscout]

[It's fine, probably? Though by the time Manwol is done draping the blanket over him, Lalli's eyes are open.

For a moment he seems a little lost and confused, and he has to blink a few times to clear his mind as he stares up at the ceiling.]

...

[Then he turns his head slightly to look over at Manwol.]

That was weird.

Not the dreamworld.

[lifeless]

[Manwol sits back down, glad that she was not Perceived.]

Has that ever happened to you before? That is, not being able to see the dreamworld.

[silentscout]

Not since I got my magic. It's really weird and I don't like it. How am I supposed to contact Onni if I can't go into the dreamworld?

[lifeless]

Yet another question to ask this Principal Bear creature thing. If they're the ones responsible for sealing our abilities, then they should just as easily give them back.

[silentscout]

So the Principal Bear is the god in charge here.

[He just accepts this as fact.]

[lifeless]

[lalli no..... manwol nods]

It's the logical assumption. [is it] A principal is in charge of a school and only another god can seal my powers. And probably yours too? Did you get your magic from a god?

[silentscout]

Mhmm. All mages do, where I'm from.

[lifeless]

And what do you do in exchange? What's the price?

[silentscout]

[He seems bewildered by this question.]

Fight Trolls, stay alive. What else would someone do with it?

[lifeless]

[Manwol too is bewildered???]

To steal, kill, harass others... maybe take over countries... How do your gods make sure mages don't abuse their powers?

[silentscout]

I guess they would take the magic away if people were doing that. Except the harassing, Icelandic mages do that all the time and they still have their powers.

[lifeless]

Huh. How nice... My god could really learn a thing or two from yours. She can be so finicky and exact. She'd never grant a human anything unless she's getting something even better out of it.

[silentscout]

No, that's pretty normal too. Some gods are like that. Especially the Icelandic gods.

[manwol's getting an inkling here that Lalli maybe doesn't like Iceland]

They demand a heavy price, but let their mages harass people? [woooooowwwwww] Makes sense, I guess.

[that gods suck, but that also apparently iceland sucks]

[He is certainly biased yes.]

That's just how it is when you deal with gods.

I feel like beating up this principal bear even more now... We could still do that, right? Even without our powers?
