The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

On one of the tables is a welcome basket.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[Caleb comes out of the room with the others from Fall #2, taking in the rest of the room quietly while Lux speaks, as though he's trying to assess everyone. His posture is cautious and a little hunched, and he's wearing what looks like warm outdoor gear, a coat and boots and scarf. He also has an orange bengal cat wrapped around his neck like a scarf.

When he speaks, he has a soft voice with what sounds like a light German accent, and the cadence of someone speaking in a second language.]

Uhm. That seems wise. My name is Caleb Widogast. I presume all of us are recent arrivals with, uhm, no sense of how this has come to pass?

[illuminance]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Caleb. [ she gives him a polite nod! ]

... That seems to be the case. I don't recall anything between where I was and here to shine light on how I was brought.

[katzepaw]

[I assume he heard when she gave her name to one of the other people in here, but he nods politely in return. He seems a little at ease seeing someone who doesn't seem like a young teenager.]

Nor do I, besides that strange welcome letter. Did you receive one?

[illuminance]

Yes, I suspect we all did.

Very kind of them to accept us without our permission.

[katzepaw]

[He cracks a small, awkward smile at the sarcastic comment.]

Ja, well, I have always wanted a return to my schooling days. Thoughtful to anticipate this, and to store all of my belongings for me somewhere else.

[illuminance]

[ she returns the smile, a bit wry. ]

Well. At least you aren't alone.

[ she means because of the cat, more than because of the rest of them. ]

[He seems uncertain what she means, and then absently reaches up to scritch Frumpkin.]

He winds up following me most places I go. So that's for the best.

[illuminance]

I hope he'll get along with the other one.

[ and she nods towards lalli's cat! ]

... Though, I suppose what I truly hope is that we aren't here long enough for it to be an issue if he doesn't.

He is a good boy, he won't make any trouble.

[Smiling a little at the compliment to his cat!]

Maybe that depends on us? Seems like a puzzle to be worked out. I don't see us appearing and then being sent away just as suddenly.

[illuminance]

Some sort of recruitment is my only guess.

[katzepaw]

[He itches at his forearms, a little unnerved by that.]

Maybe so. Though many of the people they've brought here are children.

[illuminance]

[ yeah her eyes kind of - glance over futaba and hope. ]

No younger than when I was enlisted. ... Though I hope to be wrong that this is the intention.

[katzepaw]

Mm.

[It's not really clear which part of what she's saying that's an agreement towards, just a general agreement.]

There's certainly a suspicious intent. You can fight? [Noting the armor.]

[illuminance]

Well enough. It's not where I shine brightest, but I can use a sword or a crossbow well enough.

Not that I have either available to me.

[katzepaw]

You are doing better than I am. I am a spellcaster, no good with anything else in a fight, and . . .

[He shrugs.]

Maybe you've noticed.

[illuminance]

[ lux... pauses. ]

... I see.

It seems to be somewhat common, among us. [ and she glances over in bradley's direction. he's a wizard! ]

Maybe not so surprising, if their tools are this effective on magic.

[illuminance]

I'm not accustomed to it.

[katzepaw]

To magic? Or to their being able to suppress magic?

[illuminance]

To both, I suppose. I...

It's being suppressed? [ she hadn't been aware that was happening. hm. hm! this sucks!! ]

Nothing is working, no. It's a pretty predicament we find ourselves in.

[illuminance]

The pretty looks of this place are deceptive.

Why let some keep their weapons, and take the magic from others?

[katzepaw]

Well, they may have let some keep their weapons, but that doesn't mean their weapons will be useful against whatever brought us here. Plenty of ways to make non-magical weapons ineffective, but spells are tricky and unpredictable.

[illuminance]

The same reasoning...

Useful or not, I would have preferred to have a weapon. But I wasn't so lucky.
