In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there is a welcome basket near the bowl.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

[HER SUGAR COFFEE... For a lad who dislikes sweets, it is truly an incomprehensible creation, and the wafting smell alone is enough to have him be like "THAT'S A WILD DRINK" internally.]

Ah... [RIGHT NO ONE HERE KNOWS. He's quiet for a second, trying to figure out how to describe it succinctly.] A - traveling swordsman is the best way to say it, I think.

[fair. this drink is probably like 30% coffee, 70% sugar. it is an abomination.

Huh. So you take on bodyguard work and the like?

BUT. Hm. He seems to be weighing his answer again, but eventually nods.]

I've done work as a bodyguard before, yes. I'd say that's one of the most common jobs I take on.

[This little flimsy noodle-arm lookin guy.]

Hmm. I'm kind of surprised, though. You don't really look like the mercenary type.

[It's not uncommon for him to hear that, so he just looks vaguely amused...]

I've been told. I've been a ronin since I was quite young, though.

You usually travel alone, or with companions?

[modissty]

[For some reason, it looks like he has to consider that for a second before he answers.]

--Alone, most often. Though I've been finding myself in the company of other travelers more than usual lately.

Huh. [she sort of gazes off into some distant corner of the room.]

Guess we've got something in common, then.

[A COMRADE... Sakyou's expression softens a little, since he can more or less pick up on what a similarity like that means.]

It's a little bit strange to adjust to others when you're used to passing the time alone, isn't it? Noisy and messy - but not a terrible thing.

[He says this, blissfully unaware that Rita started her stay by decking Molly. NOISY AND MESSY INDEED.]

... Yeah.

They're annoying, usually, but there's upsides, too.

[Yeah... Yeah. That sure sounds like something he can understand.]

There are, certainly. [Like not being a lonely nerd anymore.] Have you done a lot of traveling yourself, then?

Yeah. Especially over the past year. I think I've been to just about every corner of the world, now.

[modissty]

[This is wild news for someone who's a traveler but like, in normal ronin terms of the word.]

How impressive... You must be constantly busy and on the move, then.

For a while I was, yeah. Now I'm back to spending most of my time in one place... though I'm not any less busy. Just the opposite, really.

[modissty]

Ah... Well, I can understand that. Sometimes, the place that demands the most attention and time is the one right under your nose.

[Usually because it's filled with punks who need all the help they can GET.]

What about you? Got some place you'd like to return to now and then?

[A brief beat of silence, before he nods.]

I haven't been able to return to my home province in some time. I would like to revisit someday, but it simply isn't possible as things are.

[He doesn't sound too fussed about it though, honestly.]
