common room.

In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there is a welcome basket near the bowl.

specialty room.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

but fine, he slows down enough to let sieghart follow him into the room, already making a beeline for the windows.]

I'm really starting to think the dorm heads don't recognize what magic actually is.

[It's the first time he's entered this suite, but the layout is identical and he isn't here to snoop around. While Taichi checks the windows, he looks around the room itself.]

Do you see anything?

[there are maybe leaves on the top bunk. also we have a slide bunkbed. so taichi's going to stare out the windows and rattle the frame trying to open them.]

Same as downstairs. It's just dark. Nothing's out there.

[ercnerd]

[That's so unfair. How come the kids get the fun bed?]

. . . I don't sense anything in here. Does anything look amiss to you?

[goalsides]

No, but that doesn't mean anything. [he looks a little pissed, actually.] This wouldn't be the first time shelter was actually just an illusion so somebody could trap us.

[and kill them, but he does not say that part. that was years ago and he's over it but also sometimes experience is a thing.]

[ercnerd]

Illusions, huh . . . That's magic, all right.

[He raps his knuckles against the frame of the bed before moving to the bathroom.]

What should we be looking for, then?

[goalsides]

Yeah, something like that. [he's going over to the couch to try and move it, like it's hiding a trap door under it.]

...I don't know though. The mansion disappeared when Devimon and Leomon showed up. I don't want to wait for somebody to appear before the whole thing falls apart.

[ercnerd]

[He pauses amid checking the bathroom interior with the door left open. There's a whole lot of context missing from that example.]

Then we'll just keep looking around for anything out of the ordinary. All we have right now is time.

[He sighs.]

What a pain . . .

Tell me about it. At least they've got downstairs covered...sort of. Nothing seemed weird this morning when you left the dorm, right?

[he will also wander to the desk.]

[ercnerd]

No . . . everything was as it always has been.

[There's nothing in the shower. He hopes there's nothing in the toilet.]

[goalsides]

[one day we are going to find a murder weapon in a toilet.]

Then something changed since then. What though? [turning the sad lamp on and off.] What were you doing before this?

[ercnerd]

[The toilet is clean. Thank goodness.]

Nothing. I was on a stroll. You?

[goalsides]

I was out at the field. [that late? yeah it's fine.] I don't think most of us were here to start with.

[ercnerd]

Does that mean we all returned at the same time? I was so occupied with coming back that I didn't see anyone else around me.

[He frowns anew. That's not like him.]

[goalsides]

I didn't see anybody either, but we were all downstairs when the doors locked. So maybe?

[ercnerd]

. . . The bathroom is clear. I'm checking the next room.

[goalsides]

I'm right behind you. Give us a view of the other side of the dorm, too.

[they're going to continue to not find anything, but...they have to be thorough.]
