common room.

In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there is a welcome basket near the bowl.

specialty room.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

I wouldn't have gotten out on my own. Guess you really are the expert. [it's a light and probably inappropriate joke, but he frowns at the door before he nods in response.] I was gonna try to see if I could get cell reception yet. Have you had any luck?

[they can both be varying degrees of not chill while he offers a distraction. it's fine.]

[ honestly she kind of forgot about her cell after trying to call chad once, rip. ]

[maya your phone??? but at least she smiles even it's a little so he's okay with that.

...yeah. He's...my messages were going through fine this morning, so at least we know things were working then. [and also because he's pretty sure yamato's going to flip the fuck out if he can't reach him, because yesterday's bonfire really was enlightening about a few things that hadn't quite clicked for him.] Plus it wouldn't hurt to try messaging people in all of the dorms. Just to see if we can get through to anybody.

Yeah.... I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped working the second we got locked in...

[ rest in pieces taichi, when yamato sees him again... murder will occur ]

Maybe we should try messaging each other, too... to see if we can.

Which makes the whole thing feel even more calculated... [friday's murder victim is definitely going to be taichi, yeah. but also, wow, that's actually a very smart idea.]

I hadn't even thought of that. Let's try that first and see what we can do. I'll try texting you if you try to text me. Maybe one of them will get through.

[ maya pulls out her phone to try to email taichi a generic message ]

I guess... depending on whether this works or not, we'll know how closely this is related...

And if they are related, that at least answers a few questions I have about this place.

First these stupid things don't have calling at all, and now the texting's busted. If the school's providing them, there's gotta be a tower or something somewhere that controls how they can be used.

[not that that helps them now but no he's just more pissed off.]
