SPRINGLE - WEEK 0

common room.

In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there is a welcome basket near the bowl.

specialty room.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

Please use this as an open post for members of Spring Dorm. You may post top-levels whenever you'd like and go wild. A new post will go up at the start of each week.

Is that what the bear meant by their not feeling well? It doesn't sound like a normal illness if all four of them were affected.

I guess. Chad wouldn't go into a ton of details, but I thought it was a little weirdly convenient to hit all four of them, too.

. . . What do you think? Can we trust them?
goalsides: (You have a drumstick)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-14 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
...I think for now we should proceed with trusting them. There has to be a reason they were taken out on Thursday, and I want to think it's because they could have helped us if they were around. I don't know if it's true, but...that's just what I think.

My thoughts on the bear are similar. They themselves may not know much, but they're still a willing resource. At this point, we can't afford to look a gift horse in the mouth.
goalsides: (It makes me wonder if I've)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-14 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
[...he absolutely mumbles "gift bear" to himself before he nods.]

You're right. He didn't seem that opposed to helping us however he could yesterday. It's just that it wasn't much help at all. So maybe we need to think about the questions to ask and how to ask them.

[Glad to hear that you're having fun, Taichi.]

Let's consider what we do and don't know, then.
goalsides: (How can I help it)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-14 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
[stop let him have this.]

Here's what we know. We were all chosen to be here, the principal is holding our items and stuff hostage, we can earn those back by trading vouchers with any of the dorm heads, and the dorm heads get points based on vouchers earned. We get vouchers for doing a few different things, a lot of which the dorm heads aren't allowed to tell us. But they can also listen in on us whenever they want.

We also know that this school was apparently prepared for murder because there's no way all of that was set up over the last three days.

The bear mentioned a legacy that even he can't challenge. That means all of this has happened before.
goalsides: (The sun it rises slowly as you walk)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-14 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
[...he pulls out his phone and scrolls.]

Chad mentioned there was an incident in the school's history that led to the creation of certain traditions. So yeah. I'd say you're right. But he didn't know how long ago that was. Apparently it hasn't happened recently.

[so. he frowns.] Pretty weird that the minute we get here, something that hasn't happened in years comes up.

[personal profile] ercnerd 2021-06-14 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
It can't be a coincidence. If anything, that something could be responsible for our forced admission.
goalsides: (You'll never shine if you don't glow)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-14 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
So we should probably start asking about this incident and see what we can find out. How long ago it was, what it was, stuff like that. If they would know at all. The bear said it was before his time, so...there's a chance none of the dorm heads know either.
ercnerd: (20)

[personal profile] ercnerd 2021-06-14 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Shouldn't there be records of the incident? Maybe they can check on them for us.
goalsides: (But your head gets dumb)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-14 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I'm hoping. If it was something big enough to change the school's policy there has to be news about it somewhere. Don't archives exist?
ercnerd: (13)

[personal profile] ercnerd 2021-06-15 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
They should.

The records can be our starting point. If the Dorm Heads can't turn anything up, we'll think of something else.
goalsides: (And now I sit back and wait)

[personal profile] goalsides 2021-06-15 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds good to me. It's better than what we started with.
