common room.

In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there is a welcome basket near the bowl.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

[WHY. obviously this means that a.) he startles pretty damn bad and b.) he also slams his head on the underside of the bed.]

Damnit! [CLAUDE.] Have you been awake this whole time?!

[whatever he's been hunting for is suddenly not important for a few minutes.]

[shaft]

Anyway, Claude just shrugs as if to say, "who can say?" ]

I was beginning to think I had this entire space to myself.

[goalsides]

[no bully...]

No such luck. When I left I walked past a couple of other people this morning. That's not even counting everybody in the other suite.

[shaft]

Oh? I must've missed the commotion.

[ he's lying. y'know, like a LIAR. ]

Did it seem like the makings of a good household?

[goalsides]

[eventually taichi realizes he's not going to find what he's looking for and crawls out from under the bed.]

No idea. I didn't talk to anybody before I left. But maybe? [he was busy.]

[shaft]

[ Claude's going to push himself up and stretch at this point, looking around. Doesn't seem like anyone in this suite wants to lounge around. ]

It does seem like we've got a busy crew here. Can I ask what you're looking around for?

[goalsides]

[catch him later when he's ready to collapse on the floor, claude, it's the only way.]

It's something really important to me. It's silver-ish and kind of round with some buttons and a screen on it. I had it with me before I got here but I haven't seen it since.

[shaft]

[ sounds like a Technology ]

I don't think we were able to bring much with us—but anything you own is probably in the basket.

[goalsides]

--what basket? [he really, truly did not bother looking around the dorm itself before deciding going outside was a good idea.]

[shaft]

[ one meltdown later: ]

I found mine in a basket... I suppose that wasn't the case for you then.

[ he gets up ]

I guess we're on the hunt then.

[goalsides]

[our basket...]

It probably would've stood out if it was. [he is still on the floor but he sits up on his knees.] Sometimes it lights up or beeps if it makes a connection, so I'm hoping maybe that'll happen and make this easier.

[shaft]

I've learned not to rely too much on luck.

[ he looks at the beds and starts yanking the bed sheets off, basically tearing the beds apart to see where the little device is hidden ]

[goalsides]

[he'll start checking around the desk while claude does that.]

It's not so much that it's luck, but it kind of responds to me if I'm close by. [okay, fine, he doesn't entirely know how the digivice works but that's based on experience which is better than luck anyway.]

[shaft]

[ that's... different. ]

So it's alive?

[goalsides]

No, it's a machine. But it's also tied to me. [he doesn't entirely know what it is, but he can at least throw out a concept that maybe makes sense even if it isn't entirely accurate.] Think of it like magic, sort of.

[shaft]

[ Claude's lifting up the mattresses to look underneath ]

And what does it do?

It helps my parter fight. [it's a vague explanation, but it's not like saying that is going to do anything when his partner's not even here.]
