SUMMER COMMON ROOM - WEEK 0

The common room is as bright and open as the rest of the dorm. Beanbag chairs and even more hammocks are situated around for any of your resting needs, because who needs couches? There are a few blankets on the couch just for comfort, but the temperature is never cold enough to need them because of chill. There's also an absurd amount of pillows.

The walls are decorated with paintings that are either modern art pieces or done by kindergarteners. There are also photographs tacked onto the walls as well, of seemingly random things like a vase of flowers, a mailbox, a bird on a tree branch. The photos are less about grand views and feels more like someone testing out a camera.

On a table is a welcome basket.

In the common room, there's a door that leads to what can only be described as an Occult Room for some strange reason. Unlike the rest of the dorm, this room is dimly lit and is crowded with items—a skeleton that may or may not be real, taxidermy animals, really creepy looking dolls, an actual coffin, etc. On a table to the side is a Ouija board, a few tarot decks, and crystal ball.

It's more than stuck.

Something magic or otherwise is holding it in place. The windows are unbreakable.

We're trapped.

... Well then. 'Twould appear this place is finally showing its true colors. Are you certain it is a magical seal?

There's a possibility it's some kind of advanced science.

Given the level of technology present, that is also another possibility. If we are able to narrow down what could be the likely cause, then mayhap we can revert it.

I'd feel more confidence about this if we had someone that's experienced with tech...

[ HOW MANY OF THEM ARE OLDES? ]

... Quite. Regardless, we must see how far we are able to get on our own.

... That's true. Are you going to help us?

I suspect sleep is no longer on the agenda, regardless of if I want it to be or not.

We were talking about shifts, so you will get some beauty sleep.

A fine plan. I shall be awake for a while yet, so I mind not keeping watch whenever needed.

Then you can keep the rest of us company for a bit. [ Speaking of awake... ] Lan Wangji has been fast asleep, even with the noise.

He must be tired. Allow him to rest, there are more than enough of us to keep an eye out.

Yeah, I just find it surprising he can sleep through it... Anyway, if you notice anything off, tell us.

No. But it didn't respond to severe brute force, either.

Nier brought up the possibility that technology could be the reason. With the lack of magic around us, I would guess that is what's being used here.

[divineimpulse]

I agree with him. [it's the closest they're going to get.]

The technology used so far here is nearly indiscernible to magic.

[arcsplainist]

Indiscernible? You must be familiar with vastly different magicks than I.

[divineimpulse]

[she pauses, and looks relatively unsure.]

It seems magical, but I'm assured it's technological.

[the phone, the lights, whatever an elevator is.]

Ah—I believe I understand your perspective now. I too have seen technology far beyond any that could exist in mine own world this past week, but as a mage myself, I am more familiar with its workings in comparison to machines.

According to my experiences thus far, it may be safe to assume—although, I dearly hope to be proven wrong—that magic simply does not exist within this world.

Aye, insofar that I am able to guess. Pray take not my words as absolute truth, however—there may yet be something close by that is magical in nature. Until that time comes, however, you have the right of it.

If you are able to make sense of it. I do like to think I am fairly adept at mathematics myself, yet even I had great difficulty keeping up!
