SUMMER COMMON ROOM - WEEK 0

The common room is as bright and open as the rest of the dorm. Beanbag chairs and even more hammocks are situated around for any of your resting needs, because who needs couches? There are a few blankets on the couch just for comfort, but the temperature is never cold enough to need them because of chill. There's also an absurd amount of pillows.

The walls are decorated with paintings that are either modern art pieces or done by kindergarteners. There are also photographs tacked onto the walls as well, of seemingly random things like a vase of flowers, a mailbox, a bird on a tree branch. The photos are less about grand views and feels more like someone testing out a camera.

On a table is a welcome basket.

In the common room, there's a door that leads to what can only be described as an Occult Room for some strange reason. Unlike the rest of the dorm, this room is dimly lit and is crowded with items—a skeleton that may or may not be real, taxidermy animals, really creepy looking dolls, an actual coffin, etc. On a table to the side is a Ouija board, a few tarot decks, and crystal ball.

That sounds like a big deal. Its kinda being like...being given a powerful object and then they just let you use it how you wish.

...What do you mean, though? Why wasn't it smooth?

[momming]

Well... [ Her shoulders slump, a little. ]

It's exactly as you said. People were given a powerful object and if they passed the initial test, they could do with it as they wished.

And to people who already wanted power or had no qualms hurting others, do you think they used that power responsibly?

[duranduel]

[He looks away.]

No. Not at all.

[momming]

[ She nods, even though he's not looking. ]

Demons will run rampant when given the chance, if they're not working with a proper Tamer. To add to that other forces actively trying to kill humans and it's... certainly a lively time.

[duranduel]

[He glances back at her...Tamers, huh...sounds like Masters...]

So you had gods and stuff runnin' around? Geez. That sounds like a headache and a half...but did you guys, uh, succeed in the end?

[momming]

... I don't know. [ Her smile is a little tired. ]

I was brought here right before we could settle things.

[duranduel]

[..........]

I'm real sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how upset you must be.

[momming]

[ There's a short pause. ]

I can't deny that I am very worried.

... But everyone is strong. Even without me being there... I'm sure they'll be fine. If I spend the whole time worrying, I won't be able to do a thing for the people here.

[duranduel]

...You're really the type who looks out for others, huh?

[momming]

I'm a doctor, after all! I think I've just always been sort of a busybody that way.

[ Fussing over others forever. ]

[duranduel]

[hm]

I get it. Your occupation has honor in it, but...you need to have someone take care of you, too.

[momming]

That's not really something I could ask of anyone-- or something I'd want to ask of anyone. I'm sure they have their own matters to worry about.

[ And none of them know her here?? ]

[duranduel]

[He turns and stares at her for a moment.]

Y'know, you were just telling me you'd listen to me a little a day. Why can't someone do the same with you? I'm a stranger to ya. Even that doesn't go under the duties of a doctor or whatever.

[momming]

[ listen don't call her out like this ]

Well, that much is also just a part of my personality. And I can't expect everyone to be the same, of course.

... And you looked so miserable that, even as a stranger, it didn't feel right to just leave you alone.

[duranduel]

...

[Hm.]

I appreciate that, but...even if people don't look miserable, they keep that stuff on the inside. Even people like you. I think its just common courtesy to, y'know. Look out for others. And you're under that umbrella, you know, even if you think you aren't.

[momming]

... Thank you. If anyone wants to take care of me, I don't think I'd be able to refuse.

[ What an endearing skunk this individual is. ]

[duranduel]

Good. You shouldn't.

[yeah that's him, a lovable skunk]

...I'm not the best at talking or listening, but...if you wanna talk 'bout stuff, I wouldn't say no.

[momming]

... Well! If we enter an arrangement where we can hear each other out, I think that sounds fair enough.

[ He'd seemed so uncomfortable about it a few minutes ago, wow. ]

[duranduel]

[He frowns slightly at that.]

Y-You don't need to hear me out. Really. At best, this gloomy guy is just a wall to talk at...

[momming]

I've met gloomier. Will you accept the deal, Rider?

[ Stop that. ]

[duranduel]

[ahhh]

W-why are you making it sound like a contract?

[momming]

It is an agreement, of sorts.

[duranduel]

I mean, you don't need to include listening to me to be a part of it...

[momming]

But you're offering the same.

[ So. Don't be silly. ]

[duranduel]

Yeah, but I did it without me in the equation.
