SUMMER COMMON ROOM - WEEK 0

The common room is as bright and open as the rest of the dorm. Beanbag chairs and even more hammocks are situated around for any of your resting needs, because who needs couches? There are a few blankets on the couch just for comfort, but the temperature is never cold enough to need them because of chill. There's also an absurd amount of pillows.

The walls are decorated with paintings that are either modern art pieces or done by kindergarteners. There are also photographs tacked onto the walls as well, of seemingly random things like a vase of flowers, a mailbox, a bird on a tree branch. The photos are less about grand views and feels more like someone testing out a camera.

On a table is a welcome basket.

In the common room, there's a door that leads to what can only be described as an Occult Room for some strange reason. Unlike the rest of the dorm, this room is dimly lit and is crowded with items—a skeleton that may or may not be real, taxidermy animals, really creepy looking dolls, an actual coffin, etc. On a table to the side is a Ouija board, a few tarot decks, and crystal ball.

... It looks like the best course of action for now is to try and get you heal the normal way. As such, probably some ointment and changing of bandages and plenty of bedrest.

[He's not protesting, exactly, but he's made it this long, and he seems as steady as one can be on a broken leg. Other people can take priority, or her things can be rationed, whatever she deems appropriate.]

... May I at least see them for myself? I understand your opinion, but I'd like to decide that much on my own.

[He nods. Sitting on the floor is natural enough, so he does so with grace, carefully extending his leg for her to examine.

The "bandage" binding it clearly isn't meant to be a bandage at all--it's bloodstained, now, and only about a finger's width, with a cloud pattern embroidered on it. He removes it with extreme care, folding it gently and resting it on his lap, one hand on top of it like he's worried about losing it.

Up close, it may be obvious to her that his leg was intentionally broken; in the process of healing, but with pressure put on it. Even more visible are the puncture wounds from a large beast's fangs. SOMETHING WENT CHOMP ON THIS BROKEN LEG. There are probably bits of medicinal herbs still clinging to the torn fabric (and did I mention his clothes were obviously soaked in water and improperly dried?), but if there were enough herbs initially to do anything, there certainly aren't now. IT'S A MESS.]

[ Otome also settles to the floor, glancing up at him for permission before she sets about examining his leg.

She doesn't touch any more than she needs to and when she does, it's the lightest pressure, to confirm more than to investigate.

And wow is she frowning. ]

I won't ask what happened here-- but I would like to apply fresh bandages. How do those puncture wounds feel? Do they ache at all?

We encountered the Xuanwu of Slaughter.

[That's not an ominous name at all!!

But he doesn't flinch at her touch, which probably isn't surprising. He's a stoic dude with a strong golden core and extreme stubbornness.]

Only slightly. [Is he demurring or does he really feel okay? Unclear.] I have been meditating.

[To try and cultivate enough energy to speed up the healing process, is what he means. Except even that was put somewhat on hold, since he had to let his stupid crush take a fever nap on his lap]

[momming]

Aptly named, it seems.

[ Thank god he wasn't slaughtered?? But she's pulling out a little bottle and a roll of bandages from her bag.

(Also wow that scene was so gay it gave me secondhand embarrassment.) ]

Let's help it along for now. I'm going to apply some antiseptic to the bandages themselves to address those puncture wounds, though unfortunately, I can't just instantly heal a break right now.

[THEY'RE EVEN WORSE WHEN THEY'RE MARRIED.

But this is fortunately not married Lan Wangji, and he nods to acknowledge her words.]

Thank you for your aid. [He's not stuck in a cave anymore, so that's probably step 1 to recovery? Though he's definitely not going to rest on it as much as he should.

As for the matter of their blocked abilities--] I will investigate.

[momming]

[ As she quietly works on blotting some of the bottle's contents onto the bandages before she begins rewrapping his leg. ]

Mm.

[Ah, he hasn't introduced himself properly. How rude of him. He'd bow formally, but he doesn't want to jostle her, so he stays still instead, still clutching the ribbon with one injured hand.]

[ She vaguely gets it, due to Fumi and her talk of her host family, but she doesn't want to be rude. ]

Oh, right. And my name is Otome-- Yanagiya Otome.

[That's. That's a yes apparently.

Also I'm sure there's a proper honorific for this but I don't know what it is off the top of my head so--]

If you'd like. You can also just call me Otome.

[ She isn't fussy. ]

[Doctor Otome it is!! He inclines his head to acknowledge her words, but otherwise sits very still and lets her work.]

[momming]

[ And she'll straighten once she's finished redoing the bandages, nodding to herself. ]

I do mean it when I say to rest. That's the best thing you can do for it right now.

[souheki]

[Nnngh... he doesn’t want to disobey doctor’s orders, but he looks down at his lap.]

I must find someone.

[momming]

Is it someone you have to find on your own, without help?

[ She's not going to budge on this. ]

The answer is no so he’s just not going to answer directly. Instead—]

[Well, he's stubborn, but not stubborn enough to argue against a doctor who can find and help Wei Wuxian better than he can. He shifts a little, like he wants to go and look with her anyway, but he stays put.]

I understand. Can you tell me what he looks like?

[ Be as gay as possible about it. ]

[tragically he will not, wwx is the one who waxes poetic about sprinkling rose petals on lwj's bathwater]

He has gray eyes. His robes are black. He is feverish. There is a fresh brand on his chest, here. [Indicating the spot on his own chest.]

[ Damn. ]
