A lot of things rely on luck. And the same things that happened to them could happen to any of us, so we'll just have to figure it out or work out how to adapt fast to what happens.
[ hmmm. ]
You were pretty in to the idea of winning earlier. Who says we can't do both? If we actually figure out how the points work.
.... well, precautions can be taken to try to keep people safer, now that we know a little bit more of what we're up against. All we can do is prepare and hope to prevent for now.
[but at the mention, she tilts her head before offering a smile]
.... I'd like to win - but I'm the type of person who can accomplish my needs no matter what. I just had a project in mind in case I did win.
Dorm Wars points are generated from Voucher exchanges, from which tasks on the board are completed based on their alignment, and eventually on total number of residents within a dorm - but that's at the end.
Mitigating the physical damage is doable. The uh, mental side of it maybe not to much? We don't know what happened to them, after all. Until they tell us and even then that can't put us on the same level completely.
Right, the different tasks align to the different dorms. So as we go along in theory we should be able to figure out which one aligns with you, and which ones are the others. [ playing smart, not truthful ] And hey, I spent some vouchers today. Does that count towards this week or next week's total?
[ . . . . takes another sippy and she'll let her gaze rise to the ceiling, thoughtful]
.... well, sometimes just having someone on your side when all the world seems like it's falling apart is good. I think Winter's been good about that, at least. You're all quite caring toward each other.
[fond....]
But those will count for next week - thank you again for your patronage. [her smile grows a bit] ... don't push yourself if you think you can't complete my task, though.
I'd hate to have another Hope situation.
[very funny that the one task that crow said he couldn't swing was in fact viola's]
Even if some of us insist on sleeping outside like merry hobos, and occasionally wake up smelling of moat water?
I expect there to be a huge boost to points seeing as you cleaned me out. Don't let me down. [ eh. ] If I can figure it out, I might as well. Might as well funnel points into the dorm I'm invested in.
[ not his fault he has self confidence. i say assuming that's the one. ]
It was the task tied to it in order to give us points, wasn't it? I understand.
Which is why... I do not want to win more than I care about your comfort. So don't worry too much over it, if you cannot discern which answer is mine and complete it.
It's less comfort and more it's not really something I can talk about. Let's leave it at that.
[ he takes a sip of his own drink. ]
I think everyone in this dorm are assured enough to not do things that make them super uncomfortable. Or, y'know. That's what I'd hope they'd do. [ two of them, as mentioned, keep sleeping outside so they're not listening to The Man ]
[ . . . . hmmm. she'll take a sip of her own drink then, letting her gaze flick elsewhere for a bit.]
Later, then.
[because she is curious and she thinks she has an idea but... well, it's already been a heavy enough day.]
Well... I think that they're also the type who'd sacrifice a lot of themselves to make other people happy - or who don't put their own well-being all that high in their list of priorites.

Nothing wrong with wishing on the basics. Especially when people keep forgetting them.

[and she'll do a little clinky of her glass against his]

That's a dangerous gamble to make. But high risk high reward, right?
no subject
... maybe we can aim to be pleasantly surprised.
Hope for the best and prepare for the worst, as it is.

What would you even fine yourself?

I think it's as good of a sentiment as we can get right now. I didn't expect this school year to be so dangerous...

[ siiiiiip. ]

[without much hesitation]
I'd be even more upset if there was nothing I could do at all to try to help.
no subject
... That's a show of dedication and a half, Vio.
no subject
... I don't know about that. I feel like it's self-important to suggest that I've been doing much at all, even with being Dorm Head.
My results for all of you haven't been very good - but that only motivates me to try harder.
no subject
And if it's dorm points, well. We'll figure it out and drag ourselves ahead, probably. I've seen worse people in charge of something.
no subject
... I haven't actually done any of that - it's fortunate that Dimitri and Kon are still with us. I'm still not even sure what happened to them.
And Dorm Wars points - while I want to win, matter far less to me than your safety. So... I only hope we can do better.

A Hope situation?

Even then - sometimes especially then. It makes me feel really... [hopelessly adoring] ... I'm very proud to be among you all.
[they're all such good people - and they're with her? it's enough to make her heart melt]
Do you recall when you mentioned that one task in particular was harder for you to complete than others? When discussing your ideal future...
[she tilts her head] I'm afraid I'm a person who cannot live without hope.

The hope part isn't really the issue there, Vio.

Yeah, because that always works out well for the people around them.
