Wouldn't we just be in the same situation in a different dorm then?
[ ... trying to wrap his head around this is ... confusing honestly. for someone who doesn't care about disdain, and can weather suspicious looks, it sounds like an issue being made from a non-issue. but clearly it matters to viola. ]
What are we achieving by considering moving around the winter dorm? We're not any safer anywhere else. And we wouldn't have been even if we'd never been in this dorm in the first place.
... I don't know. There's still too much that's unknown - what can motivate a person to kill is a large one. If both condemned killers have been in Winter, could Winter be the source? But why would that be the case? It's not a pattern, maybe it's a coincidence, but it is regardless concerning.
Though even if there is a causal relationship, it seems like if you leave to a different dorm, you may just become the murdered rather than the murderer - and that is no better.
[she sighs and presses her head against her knees]
… I don’t think we’re the source, Vio. [ … ] Not in the way you’re describing. Two is a coincidence, forming a pattern. But we have four bodies and two killers. We don’t know enough about the other two killings to say who did them, or which dorm the killers came from.
[ there’s a pause ]
I know you’re unconscious when the killings happen, but there’s no… report or anything? It’s as much as a surprise to you guys as it is to us when we figure it out?
…
We’d have to know how it started, before we can stop it.
No... We don't know anything about it. Or at least, I don't. We attend emergency protocol meetings on Friday but we learn everything just as you all do - when it unfolds in trial and...
[her brow furrows for a second as she shifts in her seat, her hand reaching up to her head as she makes a slightly pained noise, tilting slightly off-balance]
[ -- ah. well. he WAS just sat and listening to what she was saying. it makes sense there's an emergency meeting when someone literally dies, but is there really no way for them to get some kind of idea of what went on?
but then viola's tilting, and he's up on his feet as soon as she presses her hand to her head to her head, keeping one arm hovered in the air to support her if she tilts too far off-balance. ]
[she will! because she's suddenly feeling light-headed, her gaze unfocused as she leans into his arm and there's a long pause where she seems to be evaluating the situation. every nerve in her body is alight with tension. her gaze darts around the room, to the mirror, then back to crow.
her hand reaches out decisively, clutching onto his collar as she meets his gaze, eyes more steely and demanding than they had been in the past few weeks. in a tone that speaks primarily in demands in and expectations, she gives orders as comfortably as if she was raised on that birthright.]
Listen to me, Crow Armbrust. Speak with Kon. It's happened again.
[ mm, plot. delicious. also, nice. he's into that. i will keep tormenting you like this until i am politely asked to stop ]
...
[ ... somehow. somehow hearing that doesn't fill him with confusion. it's not like he knew, or had anything to suspect, but with the script and what was written on it, what they learned from the fact this whole thing could be someone's sick idea of entertaiment and they're the unwilling stars? hearing that the person he's speaking to isn't "viola" somehow just clicks. ]
Third - the first was when I broke the mirror trying to escape.
[she scoffs, irritated and enraged, and clenches her hand around his shirt tighter as her hands shake - this time not from fear or anxiety, but pure fury.]
I don't know how long I have or what lets me speak, but this place cannot continue its mockery of us all. May mercy find them before I do, or they'll regret toying with me - I swear it on my dignity... as... I....
he curses, and catches her before she slumps right off her seat. ]
...
[ somehow he can't be surprised by this, and the implications? they're not good. but it is relieving to have that little nugget of confirmation that the dorm leaders are in the same position as them. ]
[it takes a few moments for her head to stop spinning. viola blinks her eyes open at that, her expression more confused and wondering. she's a little breathless from the headache that hit her, even more weary than the lack of sleep and long day forced upon her]
she blinks in realization that she's in his arms, her hand still clutched against his collar, and the sheer level of horror and confusion that crosses her expression is so fucking comedic. she pulls her hand back as if burned, trying to get away so fast she might just fucking fall to the floor ungracefully]
Can't properly spend time with someone if you're half asleep. Don't worry, I'll let them know you'll be down later.
[ he pauses for a moment once her eyes have closed, frowning slightly. but he slips out of the room and shuts the door behind him with a soft "click". ]

Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. You had a funny turn and nearly fell over. I caught you.
