He can be a frustrating one. You have my sympathy.
I enjoyed the book, however. It was rather germane to my own interests, so I was surprised to hear he'd asked you to recommend what you were interested in.
It's an interesting aspect of how the world was shaped. Whether it's real or not, you learn things from how people treated what, from their perspective, they couldn't fully control or understand.
I agree. I have always studied such things from the perspective of work done by arcanists, who can control and understand such forces or at the least have ambitions of that control. The way such things are approached in a place where magic has perhaps less direct influence is quite compelling to me.
Other dorm heads? Does that mean your own beliefs are different?
Where I'm from, it exists. It isn't a matter of belief; it is an incontrovertible aspect of the universe. Though understanding its workings is not always an easy task.
Yes. It is everywhere. And practitioners of the arcane, as far as I am aware, exist in nearly every society, though access to the necessary knowledge can be closely guarded.
Precisely. There are some things that do not change whether or not magic exists. This is why I always appreciate the opportunity to learn something I did not know. The doors can easily be closed.
It's not a bad attitude to have. You're right in that people will always try to control the flow of knowledge and info. Complacency perpetuates the system.
I think it doesn't hurt to learn whatever you can, even if it's not in your direct interests. Never know when it might come in handy. But I'm studying social justice & ethics and medical science.
The study of human behavior and values in the context of society. It deals with examining ethical issues in areas such as politics, law, business, public affairs, etc.

I can imagine medical science a little bit, but what does social justice & ethics entail?
