[He definitely thinks he doesn't know how to talk to people like her. People who seem like they might have friends, unlike the other Dorm Heads. He is also probably wrong about that, but that was the reason why he never approached her.]

I wasn't avoiding you, but I do know the least about your dorm, I suppose.

Well! This is as good of a time as any to learn about it.

[ she turns her attention to catte. ]

And this is the famous Frumpkin?

This is he. Go say hello.

[He says the second part to kitty, who pads over to say hello. Very nice, very friendly cat.]

[ a good cat. she kneels down for pets. ]

You must be very popular.

He has made a bit of a splash in the dorms.

I'm sure. Seems like an easy way to meet people... they get drawn in with the cat, and then you can make your move.

[ a pause. ]

[Smiling, a little self-deprecating.]

That's not so far off. . . I am not always the best at talking to new people, but he is a clever fellow and good with introductions.

Well! Nothing wrong with that. Some people need a pint for that sort of thing. This is much less messy. The chances of ending up in an awkward situation is like, practically halved, maybe.

[ pet pet pet. ]

Maybe not so far as halved, but. . .

[See, this sounds like he's implying his cat gets him laid a lot, which is the exact sort of awkward situation he is talking about.]

[He meows. Caleb sits and watches awkwardly.]

I suppose you must be happy to be able to, uhm, come out and meet with us.

[departea]

Oh, yes. It's always exciting when people want to meet up. My dorm tends to keep to themselves, which is fine, but I'm a bit more social. So it's great when I get to see everyone else.

[katzepaw]

Are they not? I suppose of your dorm I've only spoken much with Byleth and Miss Otome.

. . . Byleth doesn't say much, but she's easy to talk to.

She's very into tea. Good taste. I don't speak to Otome much, but she seems rather nice.

[ even if being a doctor in a murdergame seems like a terrible job ]

I should have brought tea...

Do you like tea? I'm not an expert, but there are some that I recognized. I brought some for Viola but did not think to do so for you.

Oh, love it! Especially love making it, very calming. I could do it all day.

[ and she has. ]

What about you? Things you like in particular?

I like. . . cats. Books. The library. Learning new things. Working on my spells.

[This is peak Caleb as a dire conversationalist.]

Not a student for a long time before coming here.

[Yeah, sorry.]

It isn't so bad, aside from the, uhm, murder. The classes are very odd.

[departea]

Ah, yes...

[ murder bad. she clears her throat. ]

A lot of the more typical ones are full. Busy semesters, I guess. That one about loving yourself seems neat.

. . . I do not understand that class. I memorized the lecture, but the professor said my answers seemed 'insincere.'

It's fine. I have enjoyed many other classes.
