Still, I'd imagine there are some similarities between even such different swords... You likely know more about weight distribution and balance while in motion than someone who's never touched any sort of blade before, for example.

It's easy enough to step back after being parried, though; he'd normally simply allow his blade to slide, but that's hard with such a weird fuckin sword.]
[SIR YOUR SUDDEN OFFENSE. Sakyou's very clearly A Trained Swordsman since despite the look of brief surprise on his face and the buckle in his left leg as he quickly steps back, he reacts to the strike almost on autopilot, blocking it and pushing it away from himself.]

There are different fighting styles, yes. Some are designed specifically to seek out the weaknesses in the style of another school's teachings.
