FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 1

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[Laughs unfortunately this is. Such a question to ask him. He can't help but chuckle at it, and has to think.]

. . . Well, I am interested in dunamancy. It is a school of magic that is unknown in the Empire where I studied and trained, but I've had the opportunity to learn a little about it. It involves, uhm, manipulation of forces such as gravity, energy, and time. Very interesting, and powerful in the right hands.

[. . . After a second though.] However, if I were to limit it to one, uhm, spell or ability - anti-magic fascinates me. I would like to be able to cancel out another caster's abilities. Even for a moment.

[ His eyes are a bit sharp. ]

I know someone who's got that kind of magic. Though, magic types isn't something that's taught in my world, so I don't think she can help you anyways.

[ But brightens after that! ] If I could learn anti-magic, I totally would too! Actually, I guess I might be the closest thing to anti-magic we've got around? Sorcerer magic doesn't work on me!

[ghoststrums]

[ well. he's sort of already told one embarrassing story, so he's got to use the same one again!!! should've used the like like question!!!! ]

Mm... probably that one time we spent all our ride home money on food, so we had to try and hitchhike across the city. Not a lot of people have the space or willingness to take along seven kids. And trying to catch a ride was... just embarrassing.

Then when we finally got one, there was an accident in his van and we booked it.

It's more of a hobby than anything. The most useful I've learned is the gravity manipulation.

[But he sounds a little more interested at that.]

Yes, I do believe you have a type of anti-magic to you. Without spells, we wizards aren't much of a challenge, ja? It would be good to know. I've been tinkering with some ideas for a long time, but nothing as complete as that.

[He doesn't know what cars are so he's just listening like cool, okay, what is a van. Hitchhike he gets but not why it would be hard to fit seven kids.]

I hope you didn't cause the accident for this friendly person offering rides. . . ?

I wouldn't call him friendly. The guy nearly pushed one of my friends off a bridge after that. [ but also he looks embarrassed and: ] No, the... accident was from Taichi's partner. [ and here's why it's the most embarrassing thing to happen to them: ] He kind of could not wait for the bathroom.

That's cool that you can just learn that kind of stuff. [ Wao! But also does he sound a tiny tinge jealous somewhere? ]

Yup! Well, not most of them anyway. Most Sorcerers never bothered to learn how to fight 'cause they can rely on magic. Underestimated one of 'em because of that real bad, so I'm a bit more careful now.

[ is manwol in their suite? is she in the common room? who knows but she's in the dorm somewhere alive. a teenage girl died for this.

yamato figures no one really wants to talk about the dead elephant in the room, so he's settling in the common room. on their stolen couch. he brought pizza again because... well... they got pizza on their sad party yesterday. he is trying. either way he is sitting in the common room if anyone wants to hang around and he is helping the depression mood with his harmonica.

yay parties. ]

[Lalli will be picking the pineapple off of the slices before eating them, thanks.]

[Okay, but he is also bringing in some chips, and soda, leaving them on the table for anybody to grab.

He's taking a sprite and settling on one of their other couches.]

[ wow day two of us all sitting around being sad fucks. but at least manwol is here for both days? lux is forcing herself to eat, even though she has no appetite. ]

... At least there is some light in this darkness...

[ she's practically saying it out of habit. it doesn't feel right to look at a bright side after what's happened to lila. but she is glad that manwol is still with them. so. that's something. ]

...Lalli is munching on his pizza while he watches Yamato play. He doesn't really like the sound of the harmonica but he's tolerating it today.]

[ JUST BECAUSE WE ARE IN A KINGDOM HEARTS DORM but he stops playing long enough to nod at her ]

Mmhmm. This, and I'm in a band, too. Bassist and vocalist.

[ unfortunately lux was already like this. her metaphor database is 90% light and 10% darkness. nothing else. ]

Mm. Always is.

[ this party's mood sucks. ]

Wait, seriously? So you can sing and all that too?

Yeah? [ like it's nbd ] I haven't done much here, but there's not exactly a lot of music stuff right now.

Oh, I don't know if he'll put in his transfer fast enough, but... Taichi's coming to Fall.

[The mood in here is bad. The mood in Caleb is bad. But he'll just - clear his throat and awkwardly say -]

We are, uhm, happy that you are still with us here, Manwol. [A little more quietly.] You deserve to be here. Whatever else happened today is - it doesn't change that.

[ the mood in all of them is bad but yamato will stop playing his depressing song and nod after caleb speaks ]
