[ kon ducks when he sees the phonebook, skirting around manwol to let her chuck the book at it in a bid for it to vore something not human. he can feel the burn of the acid tingling - god, it's gone down his back, this is disgusting - but he ignores it to hopefully? help figure out how to get the damn garage door open. ]
[ Just a few seconds, because it is indeed coming after them. The phonebook hits it, and it too starts getting eaten away by mouths.
The door starts rising. Slowly. Looks like the device that opens this thing isn't the best, so it may take a bit. But that's fine, it's not like you're in a hurry.
The creature moves forward, going over the boxes. A mystery arm reaches out trying to grab at anyone nearby as it screams again, loud enough to make their ears begin to bleed. The stench goes stronger, enough to choke them. ]
[ Alphinaud grimaces again, reaching for one of the broken fishing poles to swat at the horrid beast as if it were a bat. Is it any effective? Most likely not; it's difficult to maneuver around the mess of the garage, not to mention the rancid odor makes him want to puke, too. Maybe it's a good thing he hasn't had breakfast. ]
Go, go...!
[ Yes, he's yelling at the door. Why didn't they ever get that fixed?! (Because this is not their house.) ]
[If Manwol could strangle one person in this nightmare-scape 'apparently we're serial killers' world they've been sucked into, then it would have to be herself. For her murder and budgetary crimes.
she feels dizzy, it feels like the acid is burning straight down to the bone and her ears are ringing and bleeding -- but she's scrabbling for the door anyway, dropping to the ground in order to push it up as high as it can go even with the monster inches behind them -- let at least one of them get out]
[ there's an aggrieved, wordless yell as the door takes a century to open up. but bradley's coat has been sacrificed, while he and manwol have gone to the door. ]
Alph, go! [ because if anyone is getting out first, it's probably their smallest when the gap is enough. and kon, trying to find something, is going to scramble forward to climb the hood of one of the cars. his aim is to see if he can't spot the manual release on the door trolley.
if it's there? he's jumping for the rope pull and putting all of his weight into it. if it's not there, or he can't reach it, he's going to go help pull the door up from the bottom. here we go! ]
[ Kon goes for the rope pull and manages to grab onto it. It does help, along with everyone else scrambling to get it up-- it's still slow going, but with enough effort there will be enough space for at least Alphi to squeeze under.
Meanwhile, the creature rushes to the car, its many mouths clattering its teeth together as it moves to bite Kon. Maybe they think he's hot? Wow. But it slams into the car, hard enough to knock Kon off of it but towards the door instead of him. Its mouths miss its target completely. ]
[ His ears are ringing and he can barely think, but Alphinaud abandons the rod by helpfully chucking it at the monster and maneuvers around the cars and various other items. He rushes to squeeze out, but before he puts his own weight against the door, minimal as it may be...
[Bradley continues trying to push the garage door up. At least one of them managed to get out. Of the group of them that are still inside it's probably Manwol who has the best chance of leaving the garage.
Come on, come on, he can get it up high enough, can't they?]
[Manwol doesn't even have the strength to swear or yell at Alphinaud to just run -- because what if they all get out? then what? the monster might just mow them down right in their(?) front lawn.
She thinks this, but she still pushes -- funny, she didn't think she still wanted to live so badly. But apparently Manwol does, evident by the way she attempts to shove her limbs under and out the door]
[ the teeth might miss, but kon regardless hits the floor, winded in the worst way. every inch of the room is filled with the rank smell of the monster, his ears are ringing, his body hurts from the acid slowly eating away at him and the impact of being knocked off the car.
he still rolls himself over with a wheeze. his fingers curl tighter around the knife, before he slips it into his obi, forcing himself up to his feet and scrambling over to the door proper.
manwol next. he puts his back into pulling the door open faster with them, on her other side. maybe climbing the car will slow the monster down. ]
[ The door eases even more open, enough so that Manwol can squeeze through. At the same time, the creature roars, lifting itself up, and then slamming against the car. It does it again. And then again, this time with enough to just flip it over. There's not really enough room for it to maneuver, so it does go crashing back down. They should probably move out of the way so that they don't get smacked with an entire car.
On the other side of the garage is... the neighborhood. It's bright outside, so very bright that it's almost blinding. Alphinaud will have to be careful that he doesn't do any damage to his eyes by staring at the light for too long. ]
[ You know what, it's bright enough that he won't bother looking up for long.
Instead, he'll turn his attention back to pushing the door, but that doesn't last long either. There's a crash within, and he can't see it; Alphinaud jerks back, surprised. ]
Are you— [ No, that isn't the question to be asking now. ] Hurry!!
[Manwol has no time to exult in freedom, she's injured and bleeding and wants to claw at her skin, before she's at the door again to push it up for Bradley and Kon -- but as soon as they're out she'll start running in a direction that's not like straight in front of the garage. hopefully a direction where the others are RUNNING,
[ once manwol is through, kon ducks down with bradley and literally leverages his back into the door, to try and force that little bit more room for the both of them to squeeze out. because, at this point, they need out. ]
Run. [ to bradley, to manwol and alphinaud, to himself - because holy shit, if that thing hits them with the car, especially the two of them in limbo of freedom and an enclosed space, they're done. there's no running from that. ]
[ You all lucked the fuck out I rolled a 2 for the car.
But they all manage to squeeze through, and the car slams against the garage door seconds after, bending it. There's still a roar from inside, and the creature starts hitting the door with its body at full strength.
They should all follow the ones who are running. The light from outside burns brighter, making it difficult to see where they're going. ]
[Manwol yells, hypocritically -- but also they're running which is great, but where are they running? does it matter? the sun is too bright she's too disoriented to tell which house they're running towards, if at all.]
[ everything hurts. but that sort of means they're alive? so. maybe trying to keep it that way.
he doesn't hesitate to jump away from the garage door as it bangs and bows, running after bradley and towards alphinaud and manwol. doesn't matter where they're going, to be honest! hopefully it just doesn't loop the fuck around again. ]
Talk all you want as long as we're running in the same direction!
[ There's another scream, and the garage door is thrown out of the doorway. The creature moves outside, going after them, and it hisses at the light. But it still moves, scrambling after the four, the voices of all the people that makes up it body howling. They hear voices they recognize. Voices they love, and hate, all intermingled in a chorus.
A few things happen. The first is that the brightness intensifies even more, to the point where it'll be almost impossible to see where they're going. The second is that he creature's body jolts, and then, without any other warning, explodes.
Its pieces go flying-- the body parts, blood, gore, acid. It all goes sailing into the air and landing on everything in the immediate area. It's a good thing they can all see this and dodge it! Wait, no, never mind. ]
Well, that's acid exploding all over his backside. He has half a mind to throw his coat off like Bradley had, but between the volume of it and a desperate desire to run, it's probably more hassle than it's worth. The burn is a nigh agonizing one, but the coat is also at least the one thing between him and the... body parts and meat and whatever the hells is exploding five ways from Sunday.
"Awful" doesn't even begin to describe this moment. ]
He cannot see with the brightness turned to max. He can only barely hear, considering the sheer damage his ears have taken from the creature's shrieking in such an enclosed space.
There's nothing he can do to avoid the flying debris, the vomit, the meat, the acid.
The acid. It's starting to burn through his neck and clothing. All he can really commit to is continuing to run.]
[Manwol can't help cry out in disgust at the blood that splashes all over her, Carrie-lite, then she yelps at the acid that splashes across the back of her legs -- then she regrets both of those things, because now her tongue is coated with what she's definitely sure is blood.
something hits her in the back and she resists batting whatever the hell it is away, instead she runs, limping]

His coat is grabbed. For a hot second he thinks about wrestling the monster for it.
Goodbye coat. He will miss you.
He knows Kon said something about hitting a button, but honestly? Honestly? Isn't it way easier to just run for the garage door itself?
That's where he's going. He's going to try and yank it open from this side.]

Francy's shitty rolls aside, everyone out? Good. Great. For the first time in gods know how long, Alphinaud feels relief, if only a little. ]
