It's a little hard to wake up when the melody that drifts into your ears is so comforting that it'd be so much simpler to stay asleep. Maybe everything that you remember last - the cold seeping into your fingertips, the pain of injury, or the darkness creeping into your vision - will just be parts of a bad dream.

But it's not.

When you wake up, it's probably a little disorienting - you have to push off a blanket and rise from this nice comfortable mat on the floor. Seems like you were all curled up for nap time. Literally. The room that you're in has furniture meant for small humans, children as some might call them, and everything is soft and plush to the touch with rounded corners. Blocks with the alphabet etched onto them, coloring books and crayons, and even a rocking horse dot the room to really give it that childish charm. If you can think of a child-safe toy, it's probably in one of the baskets that line the shelves of the room!

Around the room they'll find baby monitors that broadcast the antics of the living. Hopefully that doesn't feel creepy.

There is a yard outside through the glass doors, but it currently seems to be locked - and the glass won't break no matter how hard you try. There's a large pink door that feels enormous, ten times as tall as you, on one side of the room, but there's no way through that either. At the very top, you might see a directory sign that says: TO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

Huh.

Well... for now, get comfortable. It looks like you might be here a while.

That's what they're like on my birthday.

[ Bradley you dumb idiot, it's not a birthday cake. ]

Is it your birthday or something today?

[They are not adding a gun detail.]

And why is the oven so small?

[battling]

Could be. We're in winter, ain't we?

[ He cannot even remember a cake shape but he's fully sure of the gun. ]

Maybe it's supposed to be a tiny cake...?

[ercnerd]

[He stares long and hard at the oven and the items before them.]

In that case, let's just make a cupcake without a cup.

[battling]

Cupcake still count as a cake?

[ He picks up a spoon.

He immediately drops the spoon. ]

[ercnerd]

If you take away the cup, cupcake is just cake . . .

[Sieghart trails off at the last word to stare at the spoon on the floor.]

What are you doing?

[battling]

You try it. Pick up a spoon.

[ercnerd]

[He picks up a spoon. It slips out of his grasp and he catches it with his other hand, but the spoon starts to slide down his palm. He hastily presses it against his chest with his wrist.]

Whoa!

[battling]

This is gonna be a fucking pain if we're stuck bein' this clumsy.

[At least Sieg's holding onto the spoon. For now.]

[ercnerd]

. . . It could just be the spoon. Try opening the mix.

[battling]

[ Bradley is not even attempting to pick it up. But he does open it. It's just going to stay on the table. ]

Get me the bowl.

[ercnerd]

[He grabs the bowl. He makes the mistake of lifting it on instinct, and it clatters onto the table, but he clamps down on the rim to keep it from spinning out of control. Then he slides the bowl Bradley's way.]

Ugh, what a pain.

[battling]

We just ... Gotta make sure we ain't liftin' shit.

[ Time to pour in the batter. ]

What's on this ingredient list anyway?

[ercnerd]

[There's a clatter as Sieghart leans forward to drop the spoon sandwiched between his wrist and chest onto the table.]

Milk, oil, eggs, and cocoa . . . There aren't that many steps.

[It's just that each step is going to take forever.]

[battling]

So it's like a normal cupcake. Even though the oven is... That.

[ He doesn't trust it. ]

[ercnerd]

How does this thing even work? It doesn't look like it's operated by fire.

[battling]

Humans have been makin' stuff with mana stones lately.

[ercnerd]

[He reaches over to turn the oven around, inspecting it.]

What are those?

[battling]

The dead body of a wizard.

[He will very awkwardly start stirring the batter. This would be so much easier with magic. Alas.]

[ercnerd]

I doubt that's what this is made of . . .

[battling]

But it ain't a normal oven. So where's the power?

[ercnerd]

It's not you, that's for sure.

[Sieghart hums before turning the dial on the oven. It lights on.]

Oh, there it is.

[battling]

Heard my body turned into a rock after the end of trial. It could be.

[eyes the oven suspiciously.]

[ercnerd]

We can always break it open after our assignment.
