It's a little hard to wake up when the melody that drifts into your ears is so comforting that it'd be so much simpler to stay asleep. Maybe everything that you remember last - the cold seeping into your fingertips, the pain of injury, or the darkness creeping into your vision - will just be parts of a bad dream.

But it's not.

When you wake up, it's probably a little disorienting - you have to push off a blanket and rise from this nice comfortable mat on the floor. Seems like you were all curled up for nap time. Literally. The room that you're in has furniture meant for small humans, children as some might call them, and everything is soft and plush to the touch with rounded corners. Blocks with the alphabet etched onto them, coloring books and crayons, and even a rocking horse dot the room to really give it that childish charm. If you can think of a child-safe toy, it's probably in one of the baskets that line the shelves of the room!

Around the room they'll find baby monitors that broadcast the antics of the living. Hopefully that doesn't feel creepy.

There is a yard outside through the glass doors, but it currently seems to be locked - and the glass won't break no matter how hard you try. There's a large pink door that feels enormous, ten times as tall as you, on one side of the room, but there's no way through that either. At the very top, you might see a directory sign that says: TO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

Huh.

Well... for now, get comfortable. It looks like you might be here a while.

[ He's here! Wandering around on his hind legs, constantly doing that macarena that people do when they're not sure where they placed something. If you wander close, you might be able to hear... intelligible mumbling?

[ On one end of the room, there will be a classic laptop with the colored see-through bit, you know the one. Each week, you will be able to input one sentence that can be communicated to the living. The deadline to do so will be SUNDAY AT 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST. ]

[time to wake up from naptime...

someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today! that someone is lila. she looks pissed as she throws the blanket off and takes in her surroundings. what? what the actual heck?]

Oh, you have got to be kidding me.

[so, lila was looking for principal bear's keys, but midway through she gets hungry and goes looking for something to eat, instead.

she gives the bottle of puffs she finds a deadpan look, opens it up, and shakes some out to try them. after a moment, she shrugs, shakes out some more, and offers the bottle to lan wangji (or kaoruko or hiyori, if the mods are around and available!).]

Here. I don't want to find out if we can die twice by dying of starvation or something dumb like that.

PLAY TIME: WEEK TWO

Shortly after 9 AM on this fine Wednesday, all students will receive the text message from Principal Bear. When they gather at the designated spot, they'll see that on one of the tables are a few items gathered together. Principal Bear waves them over.

"Hello. It seems like we need to do some activities over here. It will help out greatly. Please take a seat."

Welcome to the first graveyard mini-event! Please be sure to read everything carefully! Everyone will be split into groups of TWO; if enough people aren't available, a mod characters will join in. When you have a group, comment under the appropriate sub top-level to receive a prompt. Groups will then need to obtain 20 or more comments in a single thread. They must be completed by Sunday at 3 PM EST.

[but i feel the need to establish that when rupert says this lila makes a face and crushes the little paper cup she's been drinking apple juice out of while snacking on some graham crackers in one hand.]

Oh, that's rich.

[Music plays; Sieghart sleeps. As much as the waking world tugs at his consciousness, he clings to the comfort of slumber as he shifts, tightening his arms around the strangely firm yet soft pillow in front of him.]

Mm . . .

[Something tickles his cheek. Ah, who cares? Opening his eyes would take too much energy. He continues to be dead to the world as his hand absently comes up to pat that person on the head, stroking soft ha—person?

Head?]

[when he wakes up, it's gradual, rubbing at his eyes and blinking a few times as he sits up. there's a confused look on his face as he looks around this completely foreign area, but he seems pretty calm about this entire situation. muttered to himself:]

Is this day care...?

[he'll - pause when he sees someone else, though.]

—Oh.

GRAVEYARD UPDATE: WEEK THREE

On Monday morning, a tune chimes. Principal Bear comes in, quite pleased and he grows out a positive, "We found one of my keys!"

At which point, he will unlock the outdoor playground to the daycare. There is a jungle gym, sandbox, a basketball court, and a ball pit. There's also a few additional outdoor toys like jump ropes, B*rbie and Tr*nsformers Jeeps, and these very specific balls where some of them are just slightly deflated. Surely this is what you wanted. There is also now a separate naptime room available. Nice and cozy, get comfortable!

In addition, as of today, a a telephone booth is a new toy that's been added to the selection in the daycare. When inside, the visitor will find a cup phone with a string that leads into the wall of the booth. They'll be able to request audiences with Dorm Heads by leaving a voice message. Yay!

[ Bradley has a pile of blankets and pillows and is currently watching a baby monitor of... Anime club?

If you approach him you will be getting a memory.

Bradley in his usual outfit and a beautiful blue haired man dressed warmly are out in the middle of the snow. Nero's holding out a ring, trying to get Bradley to take it from him. It's the same ring he's always wearing on his left middle finger.

Bradley takes Nero's chin between his thumb and forefinger, forcing them to look into each other's eyes.

Bradley, "Be greedy, and cling to that life with all you’ve got. Don’t matter who condemns you. I’ll always have your back. Tell me ya don’t wanna die. Or, at the very least, tell me ya don’t want me to die.”

Nero's voice shakes, heavy with emotion, “…I…I don’t want you to die…”

Bradley grins at him, full of affection and warmth, “Ahaha!! Then I guess we better make it back in one piece, yeah? You go an’ put that ring on my finger every time yer up for a big challenge, got it?!”

The present Bradley doesn't seem particularly fussed about sharing. ]

[well! they might only be able to watch the goings on in the school through baby monitors, but that doesn't make the investigations any less stressful to watch. after both bodies have been found, rupert's speaking up once everyone is in the same area (which probably isn't difficult, given how small this place still is). just ignore how upset he looks, it's fine.]

We should, um - we should decide what message we want to put into the... thing. What do you guys think?

[lila sees this on the baby monitor and groans aloud.]

Oh, come on, that's not what we meant...!

[lila's settled in front of the baby monitors to watch the execution, but something occurs to her as she does - ]

Oh, right, Rupert and I were talking yesterday, and... since Byleth is still alive but admitted to killing someone, well, hopefully people will be... reasonable... [more reasonable than she was when she was angry!!] ...but maybe we should add something about leaving her alone just in case?

Like, "Ghosts HT, KH, LWJ, LR, BB, ES, R, MT and CA, who are locked safe and sound in daycare with the bear, think you really shouldn't hurt Byleth"? [she glances at the baby monitor] We could add C or CW to the end if this finishes up in time... [she shrugs.] Or we could leave the initials off to save space! "Ghosts" might make it clear enough...

[Oh. Good morning. Someone sits bolt upright, red eyes real wide - stuff sort of scattered around him. A letter, his tarot, some origami flowers. His signature coat doesn't seem to be anywhere around though. He's ignoring all of this stuff however, tail sort of flicking while he looks around blankly at everyone.

And then he hisses like a startled cat and fucking bolts off. Where? It's a fucking daycare. It's not like it's that big. But he's going! Bye.]

[ in contrast, someone else is much more chill about waking up. there's just a long, dramatic groan and crow sits up looking a lil' bit tired, and lil' bit confused. there's definitely a hugeass double saber just sticking out of the ground next to him, love that for him. ]

What the actual fuc-- [ crow no, no swearing in daycare. ]

[ Baby mats who did this. But good morning everybody, or whatever hour it is. For a little bit, you were most certainly dealing with the body of a dead giant with a wrapped head that, after a bit, would start twitching violently every here and there. Bad dreams? Yeah, they're definitely just some more bad dreams.

But then -- he awakes with a sudden jolt, sitting upright with a gasp. His bandages are suddenly oddly loose around his head, and the motion causes them to starts slipping off but --

Wait.

Uh, who the fuck is this?

...After sitting there for a moment, he looks around, left, right, then -- sorry, he's just bolting. Not that there's really anywhere much to go, but -- somewhere. Away from you all. ]

GRAVEYARD UPDATE: WEEK FOUR

On Monday morning, a tune chimes. Principal Bear comes in, quite pleased and he grows out a positive, "We found one of my keys!"

One of the little gates in the playground outside open - and it reveals a little community garden! Generic garden flowers bloom, and some very cute, very amateur veggies grow in the ground. You can pluck them up and bring them inside to prepare and eat. Isn't that cute?

In addition, it seems like the door to the Administration Building is finally unlocked. Students can walk through the hallway to the next building over and arrive at the entry lobby of the building. No one else is inside, making it seem just a little bit spooky. A receptionist's desk sits in the very center of the room, and an elevator is situated to the right. It seems like no matter how many times you press the button, it never opens. There's a staircase to the right of the elevator, but that also seems locked at the moment. Guess making it to the top floor won't be that easy.

When you rifle through the receptionist's desk, sometimes the phone will ring. When you pick it up, you'll hear generic dialogue from... your home? Voices that you recognize, in both casual and dramatic situations, just from snippets of your life before you arrived at Wiwaldi. They don't respond if you talk to them, speaking familiar lines that you've heard before. Okay.

Finally, there is a sheet of Visitation Passes on the Receptionist's Desk for specialized students. A small drop box sits next to the pad of papers. If you fill one out - writing the Dorm Head's name and a short message - and drop it into the box, that Dorm Head will have access to come to the Daycare. Lucky!

[anyway, as soon as the admin office door is unlocked, lila ditches the daycare to head over there!

catch her glaring at the elevator as pressing the button does absolutely nothing, letting out an] Oh, come on! [when she tries the staircase but finds that it's locked, and then heading back to rifle through the receptionist's desk because fuck you, school, if you didn't want people to look through your stuff maybe you should have an employee here to stop it.

casual invasion of privacy and theft is just what you do when you're from her canon.]

[ He can't run, so here he is: ]

A. GARDENING?

[ Aikawa is just crouching over the gardens, back turned to everyone else in the far corner of the field. He's picking at one of the leaves there. The emotion that's wafting from him is vague curiosity. ]

B. WRONG NUMBER

[ Or you can find him at the receptionist desk, just standing there -- phone receiver in hand. And he puts the receiver down... and then picks it right back up, listening in silence. And he just, he keeps doing this? The emotions that emanate from him are a muddled quagmire, of frustration, of regret, of guilt, of sad loneliness. ]

i. garden

[ well hopefully no one was super attached to some of these flowers being in the ground, because crow's sat by the garden with a few of the smaller flowers plucked and set next to him. he's twirling one in each hand and frowning at them. ]

Damn, he made this look really easy. I've got no idea where to start.

[ ... after a moment he'll start trying to tie the two together. ]

ii. admin

[ don't mind crow he's just sat at the desk and listening to something on the phone with a slight frown on his face. despite that he still manages to look oddly peaceful though; leaning back in the receptionist's chair with his eyes closed and just taking it whatever he's hearing on the other end of the line. ]

[time to explore the new areas! rupert is out looking around the garden, porridge by his side. porridge, who seems... very interested in these flower beds. rupert scoops him up with a little laugh.]

Nope. No. I know you want to explore, but no ruining the garden that we just got today.

[later on in the day, anyone who enters the admin building might hear the same word being repeated over and over at increasingly loud volume as rupert knocks on the door to the very locked stairwell.]

Hello? Hello? Hello?! Can anybody in here hear me? Hello?

[surely if he says it enough times, someone who works in this building will have to come out and talk to him (no).

in the same building, someone might also find him just... picking the phone up each time it rings, listening to the message, and putting it down. he's repeating the motion for a decent amount of time with a little sigh.]

Around

[Okay first of all wow! Emotionshare week! Terrible!!! HE'D RATHER HAVE THE MEMSHARES BACK DON'T LOOK AT HIS FEELINGS. He has a lot of them, and they are extremely strong, contrary to the ever-stoic look on his face. Wow, he's been outed...

Anyway, you can, as always, find him around playing guqin, so if you want to hear some sick tunes just plop down next to him and listen. Other than that, he will mostly be in the garden! He doesn't seem to mind getting his nice white clothing dirty, kneeling in the dirt and using the tools provided to tend to and harvest the vegetables. Seems like he kinda knows what he's doing? Huh.]

Admin but not really

[Alternatively, you can catch him writing on paper in (somehow still elegant) black crayon. He's very much avoiding the phones, and he doesn't seem super eager to go wandering around the new building in general (probably because he knows he won't know what anything is), but he does come in to put a new sign on the desk.]

Stealing unnecessarily is forbidden. Please return any items you do not need. Please clean up any messes you make.

[Okay you know how it is when you were a kid and your mom would get on the fuckin’ phone for like ONE MILLION years and chat away with someone and every time you’d need something she’d do this like not now look and you’re just waiting and she’s still on the phone and it’s the most excruciating minutes of your life?

M.T. is doing that to the reception phone. He still isn’t talking too much, though as the days pass he definitely seems more …. alert. Maybe the shock is wearing off. But a lot of hours he’s just sitting on the reception desk, curled up, listening to the stupid phone at an awkward angle (phones are hard with horns over your ears). If you're waiting for it, he'll just watch you carefully. Either that or he’s sort of stalking around the desk, waiting for you to get off the phone.]

[He’s also been spending a fair bit of time stalking the baby monitors for two specific people. I feel that I don’t need to expand on this.

Well when this happens, he suddenly narrows his gaze and holds it up really close to his face, tail lashing.]

[So he’s got more words now.]

[ crow is just stood by one of the baby monitors, squinting at the images on screen in front of him and sipping apple juice from a juice box.

with a slow, exaggerated final sip to reach the bottom of the carton, he removes the straw from his mouth and uses it to jab at the monitor like a pointer. ]
