It's a little hard to wake up when the melody that drifts into your ears is so comforting that it'd be so much simpler to stay asleep. Maybe everything that you remember last - the cold seeping into your fingertips, the pain of injury, or the darkness creeping into your vision - will just be parts of a bad dream.

But it's not.

When you wake up, it's probably a little disorienting - you have to push off a blanket and rise from this nice comfortable mat on the floor. Seems like you were all curled up for nap time. Literally. The room that you're in has furniture meant for small humans, children as some might call them, and everything is soft and plush to the touch with rounded corners. Blocks with the alphabet etched onto them, coloring books and crayons, and even a rocking horse dot the room to really give it that childish charm. If you can think of a child-safe toy, it's probably in one of the baskets that line the shelves of the room!

Around the room they'll find baby monitors that broadcast the antics of the living. Hopefully that doesn't feel creepy.

There is a yard outside through the glass doors, but it currently seems to be locked - and the glass won't break no matter how hard you try. There's a large pink door that feels enormous, ten times as tall as you, on one side of the room, but there's no way through that either. At the very top, you might see a directory sign that says: TO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

Huh.

Well... for now, get comfortable. It looks like you might be here a while.

Weren't there some people who just, like, covered it up and only showed whether or not the coupon had been redeemed at that point, though? And some people who just didn't say at all?

I don't remember exactly who, I just remember some people covering up the description of what theirs were... 'cause I thought, "Wow, you're really gonna let them do that?"

Probably 'cause some other people knew what it was. Long as it was "unused" it wasn't connected t' the trial.

But that makes it a fuckin' pain when they disappear.

[she's watching the coupon/voucher talk and thinking back. #numbers.]

I had a coupon for a potion or a poison, but I didn't get the chance to use it. But I think that means... [she hums a little, counting on her fingers.] ...if you count me, there would be enough of us for there to have been five coupons of each type.

So I think of the people who didn't show what type of coupon they had, one of them had the last mind control coupon, and they probably used the coupon after the trial so they could use the mind control power this week. And there's no way to prove it, now, since the coupons were replaced by new ones from the look of things...

The math's probably gonna be different as people keep dyin'. Maybe it'll stay around even?

[An annoyed little noise.]

I had an attack pet, but I'm pretty sure people knew that.

[Cerberus is a good doggo, despite all of his circumstances and his owner.]

Maybe! There's not really any way to know. And it probably won't line up perfectly each time, but it could have with the first set. And I can't think of why they'd give more of some than of others when they could have made it even.

[she shrugs!]

Yeah, they talked about that at the trial. That you had that.

Fall saw the dog. I'd be pissed if they couldn't figure that much out.

[And then he's watching Kon and Caiman and there's a slight sense of unease about him...]

[glances between bradley and the baby monitor]

That doesn't make it any less difficult to -

[she pauses, and sort of stares off into the distance, looking almost like she's seeing something. after a few moments:]

...watch, when it's someone you know well who's on trial.

This kinda thing. It ain't really about feelings.

Either they figure out who did this or they won't.

Bird was probably the Spring sanctioned murder group.

What I wanna know is why people other than them are killing. I think I overheard, Sieghart told you Kainé said something about him needing to die for this to end, right? Do you think maybe there's another group that thinks that whoever is behind all this is hiding among us and this will stop if they kill them, like how Rupert's group thinks they have to kill us to keep us from being assimilated?

I wouldn't put it past her to decide on that on her own. Have ya talked to flowers? She's the violent type.

But, if there's the assimilation shit happening, and the Dorm Heads are dealin' with something else trying to fuck 'em over? Scoopin' out brains like that...

[Scrunches up his nose... Gross... Excessive...]

[she wrinkles her nose]

That's a bit much. Even I wouldn't go that far.

[lila draws the line at emptying someone's head.]

[she glances at him and reaches over with one hand to tug on her other arm.

...they're worse than Hawkmoth. None of the villains back home did anything this bad even under his influence.

That's different.

[He doesn't think anybody should eat brains. Even the most unstable wizard he knows wouldn't go that far.]

Fuck up shit, ain't it? I dunno who'd want t' fuck him up that bad. But it was probably somebody with experience, if they could do that to his head.

[she nods! it's different to her, too, but she didn't know exactly where he drew the line before now.]

...but just because they could do that doesn't mean they should... why would they do it that way?

[He's been listening. But he finally glances their way at the mention of Kainé, and his gaze lingers on them for a moment before it refocuses on the trial.]

[battling]

Got somethin' to say?

It's nothing you haven't already heard.

. . . But if a third person from Spring turns up next week, I'll start to think that we're being targeted.

[battling]

[Nods.]

It's definitely startin' to look like that.
