It's a little hard to wake up when the melody that drifts into your ears is so comforting that it'd be so much simpler to stay asleep. Maybe everything that you remember last - the cold seeping into your fingertips, the pain of injury, or the darkness creeping into your vision - will just be parts of a bad dream.

But it's not.

When you wake up, it's probably a little disorienting - you have to push off a blanket and rise from this nice comfortable mat on the floor. Seems like you were all curled up for nap time. Literally. The room that you're in has furniture meant for small humans, children as some might call them, and everything is soft and plush to the touch with rounded corners. Blocks with the alphabet etched onto them, coloring books and crayons, and even a rocking horse dot the room to really give it that childish charm. If you can think of a child-safe toy, it's probably in one of the baskets that line the shelves of the room!

Around the room they'll find baby monitors that broadcast the antics of the living. Hopefully that doesn't feel creepy.

There is a yard outside through the glass doors, but it currently seems to be locked - and the glass won't break no matter how hard you try. There's a large pink door that feels enormous, ten times as tall as you, on one side of the room, but there's no way through that either. At the very top, you might see a directory sign that says: TO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

Huh.

Well... for now, get comfortable. It looks like you might be here a while.

Souls, huh. You believe in that kind of stuff? Though I guess if we're not really dead, then it'd be nice to get back to, well. Outside a stupid daycare at least.

[ Also I realized I could just do this. So Aikawa maybe looks like he's about to say something else, or who knows, it's quite hard to tell with the mask, when a memory interrupts them both.

It's... it's Rita. And she looks offended for a moment, before she speaks.

'I-it's not a daycare! It can't be! -- if it's even real!'

But she continues on, from the brief outburst. Somehow, Sieghart will know that this was meant for him.

'-- I don't know, like... 'Thanks'... or, that I tried to contact him, but it didn't work...'

Her face is just red like, she can't believe she attempted something so dumb. how embarrassing.

'... That I'm going to get to the bottom of all of this.'

And the memory vanishes.

...Aikawa just sticks his hands into his pockets, tilting his head. ]

Who's that?

[ercnerd]

[His eyes widen as the memory melts away. It has to be fairly recent. To think she'd be that upset—he's flummoxed, enough so that he doesn't answer Aikawa straightaway.]

"It didn't work" . . . What didn't?

[headsplitter]

I dunno, I was thinking you could tell me!

[ Sticks a finger in his ear. Or, would, anyway. He's just doing the motion just for the sake of it apparently, since his mask covers his entire face/head. ]

Probably the 'contact' bit or something, huh? Like with the phones.

[ercnerd]

Was it that . . . ?

[Shaking his head, he straightens. Right, that's enough of that.]

. . . I know it wasn't your choice, but thanks for sharing.

[headsplitter]

...Sharing what? I don't know who that was.

[ Anyway looking away. ]

Lots of work to do if I want enough room to run around in!

[ercnerd]

. . . What work are you talking about? Didn't I say that we need the keys first?

[headsplitter]

Yeah, but that's not totally in our control, right?? [ Looking back at him. ] Wait you're not telling me there's nothing to do here?

[ercnerd]

Nah. Other than that marquee and the activities on Wednesday, there's nothing for us to do. But you can talk to the Dorm Heads over there.

[He jerks his head in the direction of the phone booth.]

[headsplitter]

[ He stares at Sieghart. You're pulling his leg. But he just -- looks over at the phone booth and there's a palpable pause and hesitation.

... ]

I live off-campus, why would I need to talk to the dorm heads?

What activities are you talking about?

[ercnerd]

We all live off-campus.

Anyway, just try it when you have the time. As for the activities, you'll see once Wednesday rolls around.

[headsplitter]

Alright, I guess! I'll try it some time, if this place is gonna be boring anyway.

[ercnerd]

You'll get used to it.

[He turns away to head back inside.]

It's been a long day. I'm going to grab something to eat; you can join me or stay here.

[headsplitter]

I think I'll just stick around. Get used to things first.

...Aikawa, by the way! [ Since I double-checked the thread and realized he never did the introduction proper. I'm crying. Anyway this means I am slating a pc date at last maybe after things go up tomorrow :worm:. ]

He expected as much, so he doesn't fuss.]

[And then he's off to eat some more crackers and baby food.]
