In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.

Elsewhere, there are a few couches (one looks as though it doesn't quite belong) and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)

This week, there is something else on the table.

Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.

Pasted on the wall by the coffee machines is a detailed but clear handwritten guide on how to use said machines, complete with illustrations. There are also cute little doodles of Spring Dorm residents using the machines and drinking coffee, though they look as though they were done by someone else.

Common Room: Monday

[Perhaps sometime in the evening, when hopefully everyone is present, Sieghart pipes up from the couch:]

Taichi told me something interesting this morning.

There's a script about a cancelled TV show by the name of Wiwaldi Academy: Four Seasons of Drama. It's a story of competition and lies in an academy on the outskirts of the City, starring our Dorm Heads. The acceptance letter we received is part of it, and one section mentions a Gossip Squirrel and the geese.

There's more, but that's the gist of what I was told. What do you think?

Something about an isekai, right?

Sounds like it—or something similar.

Based on the content of those papers, the Dorm Heads may be victims as much as we are, too.

I'm not really assuming anything either way, but what in particular makes you say that?

I think it certainly casts them in a light that seems that way. 'Course, if I were in charge of a murder school, I'd also hand out things that made me seem real innocent.

It's only conjecture, but their identification cards don't paint a convincing image of what we've been shown. The script just reinforces that suspicion.

[ straightens up from whatever she's doing ]

What else did he tell you?

The City is equal distances from the other locations on the map we completed on Saturday. Oh, and the geese were originally supposed to be bees.

The bear is supposed to appeal to "the gays."

Are you serious?

Well, we had both geese and bees....

What the dorm heads? What are they like, in the script?

You'll have to ask Taichi. What I said earlier is all I know about them.

A Gossip Squirrel...

[There's a lot in here that he's like ???? over but literally what the heck kinda squirrel.]

It sounded like the author's penname to me, but I can't be too sure.

The penname of whoever wrote the script? [Frowning...] A strange choice.

[he laughs to himself really quietly and just mutters: skewerl in a German Accent.]

[You know what i truly hate is that Sakyou actually huffs out a tiny little laugh that he hides behind a sleeve too, just because the fact that they will not let this die makes it hilarious.]

Ugh. I'd wondered if all this nonsense was for somebody's entertainment... Guess that answers that.

I think that much was obvious from the start. But it doesn't make the confirmation any less annoying.

Hold on. It's a story of competition? Does that include murder?

[ercnerd]

. . . Given what's transpired so far, I'd say it does.

Hm. Where did he get such a thing?

Supposedly, the Dorm Heads found and couldn't make sense of the papers, so he bought them with vouchers.

[From within some sort of blanket nest;]

Shinonome sent me a message just a while ago saying the same thing. He said the roles in the script are what they're using to control us, though I'm not sure if that's just his theory or confirmed, but it makes sense with the rest of it, I think.

It'd be a convincing theory if it is. Of course, we should still keep our guards up in case we've been fed false documents.

But then what does that make this place, exactly? What does that make us?
