FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 3

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[HOPE, YOUR JOKES? AT A TIME LIKE THIS. He just barely laughs, something short. Like the laughter of relief, the kind of laugh you have when things are so bad you don't have anything else left.]

You're right. We've got a lot of hope here.

[ that's basically the point he's at right now—it comes out shakily, instead of with confidence, because he's really at the precipice of losing it, and he's doing whatever he can to stay afloat. it's a relief to hear riku laugh, and it's a comfort to have him ruffle his hair...the gestures are worth it, and hope returns the favor with a small smile of his own. ]

I just want to make sure you're all okay... After everything that's happened this week and this weekend.

And then I need all of your help. We're going to figure out what's going on, and we're going to put a stop to it.

Count me in. I know I don't have much to offer, but... I'll do what I can. Just give me the word. We will fix things.

[The optimism makes him smile faintly. Wow! Hope is growing up!]

We will. I'm going to talk to the other dorm heads, and we'll figure out how to get started. Don't lose that spirit. We're going to need it.
