Ichinose will take the shovel if its offered to her, and instead of giving this deer a proper burial, she will just. Stick a talisman on her for science. Because, you know, why not? Yamato is free to stop her if he doesn't want to deal with this, though.
Anyway, truly hope the baby was the key to golden end in this CYOA and we just gave him away.]
Several ominous-looking hands burst out from the ground, as if from a horror movie. They flail about, trying to grab what they can to pull it into the dirt—save for Ichinose, being the wielder. She does have some control over them, though, so if she wills it, she can make them stop trying to attack Yamato (or the deer corpse), oops.]
Anyway, yeah. Pwease no attacky Yamato. Or the deer corpse? Actually, they can have the deer corpse after she gives it a quick pat down to make sure she wasn't carrying any loot on her. If there's nothing, she will allow the hands to drag the corpse into the dirt. Farewell, deer. Enjoy your burial.]
Sorry, sorry! I wanted a golem, but I guess this batch's no good.
[OH, WELL... Can they keep the shovel, though? And yes, they will follow the plot after this round.]
[ bristling!! still!!!! but yeah even though he is DEEPLY (deerly?) offended about the deer corpse, he has a revenge plot to get to, so he'll start following the blood trail to the lab. he has knives he doesn't need a shovel but ichinose might need it ]
Eventually, they find the laboratory! There are a couple of security guards wandering the perimeter, but if they get lucky, they might be able to sneak by them...? If not, though, they might have to brace themselves for a night.
As for the lab itself, its door is clearly locked by some kind of scanner. The building also has a chimney; the lack of smoke suggests it's not in use right now.
[Ominous. The corpse had no loot, right? "She was a lab rat." Loot.
Anyway— hm. She does not want to fight her way through a pack of guards right out the gates, and hopefully neither will Yamato. She gives him a look, gesturing at the chimney.
[ just because he knows he can fight right now does not mean he feels like testing it out that much? especially when they've got such a big area to cover to take it down. he nods at her, whispering: ]
We'll have to slip past the guards... I'll be able to climb just fine like this, but I don't think you'll be able to do it with a shovel.
[ IT REALLY WAS JUST FOR NOW but yamato will try to look at the pattern of the guards to see if they can find the best place to sneak to climb the building. is there a tree nearby? a convenient set of vines? a ladder. ]
There is no tree, vines, or ladder, so it looks like you'll have to scale the building the old-fashioned way. However, there are conveniently placed crates that you can try to hide behind, RPG-style, if you want to make your way to the back of the building, where there might be no guards and you can take your time trying to climb a floor or two]
Ahaha, and I guess you're not strong enough for a piggy back ride? Too bad.
[She will manage... somehow. Is there anything else of note in their immediate surroundings? Anything they can use to cover their tracks? Either way, she will look for an opening they can use to make their way to the nearest crate. She will go whenever Yamato's ready.]
You're too old for piggy back rides anyway, Ichinose-san.
[ yamato is now gifted with cat like grace and fighting skills, but i refuse to believe he can carry ichinose up two stories. so they'll go the long away around the back to sneak behind crates and slowly climb a floor or two to try and get to the chimney?? he uses his elf cat eyes and other furry senses to try to keep watch on the guards and make sure they aren't caught. ]
[ why would ichinose do this to yamato, a terrible liar, who has his hands half raised up like he doesn't know whether to hold them up or put them on his cool knives he apparently knows how to use, ears flat on his head as he looks between ichinose and the guard.
it is
it is probably better if he doesn't talk when he clearly looks wary but please do not get them shot ichinose ]
That's right! I knew you were a smart one. Soooo, would you lower your gun already? Every second we waste here, is a second that could have been devoted to our work.
[ yeah i'm sorry yamato is just going to hiss when there's a gun raised to his face, teeth bared. this is a thing normally anyway. minus the hissing.
he also kind of steps closer to ichinose in case he needs to jump a guy and. uh. bring a knife to a gun fight this is a terrible idea. HE'S STILL NOT SAYING ANYTHING BECAUSE HE WILL IMMEDIATELY GIVE THEM AWAY BUT IT'S A NEAR THING ]
Hmmm... [Fortunately for them, this guard is apparently very stupid.] All right, I'll let you in.
[But he kind of just. Smacks Yamato a little in the head with the gun.]
No funny business from you. Know your place.
[Anyway, with that bit of villainy done, he scans his ID to open the door. Woohoo, the two of them can walk in now. Is Ichinose still carrying a shovel? If she is, apparently the guard is not questioning this.
Assuming they enter, there's a hallway to the left, and one to the right. Which one do they want to take?]
Aw, aren't you just a perfect gentleman? Thanks a bunch!
[She pulls one of her hands out of her pockets to wave byebye at the guard, before she reaches over to grab Yamato by the scruff of the neck, tugging him along.
Hopefully Yamato knows how to lip read, because she will carefully mouth at him: Sorry.
And, yeah, she is still carrying a shovel. It's her friend now. Anyway... is there any visible difference between the right and left hallway? Are there any particular sounds coming from one hallway over the other, or scents?]
[ honestly, it's a good thing ichinose grabs him by the scruff of the neck, because yamato absolutely makes a move like he is about to jump the guard the second the whiplash from being hit with a gun is mostly over. he's bristling when she lets go despite the apology, and looks very much like. well. an angry cat with that.
and also it's very nice of ichinose to try and sense which way to go but yamato has very little sense and a lot of anger right now, so he's going right? his gut and this coin i flipped said right, so. i hope there was something distinctive about the left and yamato is just stupid ]
[They are now alone in this front lobby or whatever, because security apparently really is terrible.
Well, from the right they can maybe hear sounds of distress and lots of people walking around, while the left is quieter and has just the one set of footsteps.
But Yamato goes right! His journey will take him to a room where... well, it's clearly a place of experimentation. There are several holding tubes and prisons, inside which are hybrids, looking half-dead, and some mutilated. There are also, like, a bunch of scientists who are very surprised to see him. None of them look important enough to be the director, though.]
Wha—? Who are you!?
[Unfortunately, they are just scientists, so they don't have guns to pull out on him.
[She is, unfortunately. Unwillingly. Yamato, she wanted to go left. You fool.
With a smile on her face, she whips out the shovel to block Yamato's path before he can get any closer to the scientists, trying to shove him back a little. Child, please.]
Oops! Sorry. I asked one of the gentlemen outside for help escorting this one, but he just wouldn't listen. It's like they're braindead or something. [A sigh, not even batting an eye at the sight before her. Her other hand is still in her pocket, and she hopes Yamato and the shovel are distracting enough that no one notices her grabbing something inside her pocket.] ... I see you're hard at work, though. Well, I won't keep you.
[ he sounds choked up so maybe the scientists will believe it's fear despite the snarl on his face? sure! anyway, i can't believe she's shove(ling) him back! rude! actually, it's a good thing, because he looks about ready to fight every single person in this room! wow! LOOK AT ALL THAT TRAUMA IN TUBES. he's uh legitimately upset about this on two levels, one which is normal and one which is why did jan give me a tragic cat backstory.
but even though he's bristling and tense ichinose putting the shovel to stop him is enough of a reminder to try and calm his shit, so he just. digs his nails in his palms instead. except i established him as having claws so sure, that's fine, just claw your own palms open so i have to keep track of that too, i guess. ]
Unfortunately for Ichinose, these scientists aren't quite as stupid as the guards (though they aren't perceptive to notice or care about her reaching into her pocket).]
... Who are you? You don't work here!
Should we just knock them out?
Maybe take them to the Director and see what he says...
[This isn't all that threatening when the scientists are armed with, like, clipboards and maybe scalpels, but it doesn't seem as though they're going to let Ichinose and Yamato do as they please here.]
[Well. Guess she's pulling out two talismans and throwing them! One at the scientists, and another at the ground in hopes of keeping them away. Why two? Why not??? Can't wait for this to be a mistake.]
