It's a little hard to wake up when the melody that drifts into your ears is so comforting that it'd be so much simpler to stay asleep. Maybe everything that you remember last - the cold seeping into your fingertips, the pain of injury, or the darkness creeping into your vision - will just be parts of a bad dream.

But it's not.

When you wake up, it's probably a little disorienting - you have to push off a blanket and rise from this nice comfortable mat on the floor. Seems like you were all curled up for nap time. Literally. The room that you're in has furniture meant for small humans, children as some might call them, and everything is soft and plush to the touch with rounded corners. Blocks with the alphabet etched onto them, coloring books and crayons, and even a rocking horse dot the room to really give it that childish charm. If you can think of a child-safe toy, it's probably in one of the baskets that line the shelves of the room!

Around the room they'll find baby monitors that broadcast the antics of the living. Hopefully that doesn't feel creepy.

There is a yard outside through the glass doors, but it currently seems to be locked - and the glass won't break no matter how hard you try. There's a large pink door that feels enormous, ten times as tall as you, on one side of the room, but there's no way through that either. At the very top, you might see a directory sign that says: TO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

Huh.

Well... for now, get comfortable. It looks like you might be here a while.

[Sieghart enters the garden with his sword in tow, making something of a familiar sight as he regards Sakyou from a distance.]

Just a handful of weeks ago, we couldn't even come outside like this.

[SWEET SIEGHART... It really is familiar, and there's something soft in Sakyou's expression as he looks up and over from the plants.]

[He nods, acknowledging and returning the sentiment. I'd rather have seen you over there, but . . . ]

Don't get too comfortable, now. We're not going be here for long.

[Damn man yeah he'd have also rather seen Sieghart over there. Not because he's upset he was targeted or because he was afraid to die or anything, just because he knows some people are not gonna have a good time with him being dead. NOW HE HAS TO WATCH IT, TOO.]

Yes... I've heard that you gained recent access to the room that has our report cards. [A faint nod. He sure hopes they can come back before anything bad happens wowie!] I'm glad that you have. We will be one step closer, then.

[A beat, and then:] About that apology... [YEAH HE GOT RITA'S SECOND-HAND MESSAGE WHAT OF IT.]

[Good, because that's what he wanted.

Putting the matters of trial and report cards aside for now, Sieghart arches an eyebrow.]

Hm? What about it?

[modissty]

I sent the letter before I realized you didn't want your killer named, but still... [He'll stand so he can give Sieghart a proper bow.]

I was made aware of it a couple of weeks after your death, and didn't say anything.

[ercnerd]

[There's a beat before he closes the little distance left between them, raises his fist, and brings it down on the back of Sakyou's head without much force.]

What did I say about your neck? I don't want to see your nape, so stand straight.

[HIS NOGGIN. He does straighten after that though, sighing a little.]

Still... [HE CAN'T LEAVE IT UNADDRESSED. His SAMURAI HONOR.] ...I had wanted to solve your case, then, when things weren't so complicated. But by the time I heard of it, more information had come to light.

[And selfishly, he didn't want Kaine to die.]

That's what you wanted. When did I ever say anything about solving my case?

Even if you say so, it was the only thing I could think to do at the time. It is difficult to know what the dead wish, as they can't usually convey it.

[It's not his fault their dead are noisy as hell man!]

Running a hand through his hair, he sighs.]

I told you what I wanted last week, didn't I?

Yes - that's why I was able to proceed with less guilt.

[But like he still felt guilty so.]

. . . So what now? Now that we both know the truth, how are you going to proceed from here?

[He's just frowning very gently at that...]

What do you mean, then? [He's just gotten used to rudely and directly questioning people's drifting thoughts lately, wowie.]

I don't think my answer would be surprising to you. We move forward, return to the other side and then discern a way to have everyone leave this place.

Don't worry about it.

[He waves his free hand. It's not worth a discussion anymore.

His expression softens at the answer.]

Unsurprising, but that's what we all need to do. At least you won't have to carry Catra this time. Have you fixed your habit of running ahead?

[Giving Sieghart a look, but he'll drop it...

Also he sure hasn't. In fact, it's now worse than ever! Haha. Hilarious. At least it's not like tomorrow will make things even worse! Wowie!]

I will not do anything to jeopardize the group's plans, if that's what you mean.

[Hm.

Is it because of the recent experience of dying? Or . . . ]

Don't be so stiff. What I mean is that I'm worried about you.

[Sometimes you're okay with dying but then [redacted] happens...]

You're so wound up that you look like you're about to snap. When was the last time you relaxed?

[He doesn't know what this strange word means... "relax"...]

It's hardly the time for such a thing.

After I've acquainted myself with the place, I will... prepare for tomorrow, I suppose.

[Watching his own trial! Wow.]

. . . I can't tell you to take it easy before your own trial, but you should do that afterward. You have to let your body rest once in a while.
