It seems peaceful. As they walk in to the first small opening (with the gate east), no Shades appear this time. There are only a couple of deer here and there, grazing. Trees are scattered across. If you remember correctly, you saw small berry bushes near the roots? ]
[ Well... If only that was it, right? When they look back to the path to Seafront, there's something large, black, with a gold color pulsing across its body. Instead of the shape of soldiers, it's in the shape of a boar (size comparison).
The boar instantly rams past Lux and Kon, scraping Lux right up against the ragged rocks that wrap around the plains. She'll get scuffs against her armor, deep scrapes where her armor doesn't protect. The boar, for some reason, is focused on Claude.
A couple of deer were in its way and unfortunately don't prance fast enough. They die violently, flying off with blood spewing in the air like party streamers... They do their last bleat and bellow before splatting against the walls or plopping onto the floor. This is only a precursor to killing another deer. How funny.
Trampling on Claude should have been enough, but no. He rolled a fucking 3, so he gets impaled directly in the chest with a tusk. It pierces through with a quick movement... Claude dies instantly and hangs off of the boar's tusk as decoration. It isn't satisfied... Well, it doesn't know if it is. It only knows to destroy. Slowly, it turns around, Claude still dangling off its tusk, and kicks up some dirt. It's preparing to charge again. ]
[ lux staggers upright as best she can - which is to say, weakly and painfully. for whatever dumbass reason, given her rolls versus kon's, she tries to put herself in between the boar and kon, brandishing her surely-useless sword and trying to like... get the boar's attention and steer its charge away from him.
No point to this, she thinks, and emotionally prepares to die again! ]
kon watches it happen - can't do much against it, really, as it barrels through one deer, a second, a third - and feels the nausea take hold already. dread. greater nausea at claude limp and dead as the boar moves to round on them.
but... with lux trying to set herself up to take the brunt of it, he instead holds up his own surely-useless sword. like they can at least impale the damn thing if they're going down. ] See you in the market, Lux.

I am very sad for Lux, so I will be swift (we also want to go back quickly). The boar rams into her and she gets hooked onto its other tusk. She doesn't die instantly, but she hangs off of it much like Claude, though not as deep due to her frame. She stays alive until she slips off, tusk ripping out from her side. She falls onto the floor and gets trampled while the boar maneuvers to take Kon out, too.
Lux lives for maybe a minute... Maybe two. She can think about her life in her last moment compared to the first time she died. Is there really a point? Does life have meaning? Until she blacks out.
Kon, fortunately, does wound the boar! It isn't armored, so it makes a loud, distorted noise in anguish. Its retaliation comes in biting Kon... Half of his body, much like Tsuyukusa, except now he can't feel his lower half. His legs give out entirely.
It gobbles him up.
Since he rolled a 20, he lives inside the Shade's stomach, in the darkness, for twenty minutes before completely disintegrating, melting, into nothing.
How fortunate for him that he can think about things in there despite the searing pain. He can wonder where things went wrong. They were only going to get berries...? ]
CLAUDE - Once in a while, it feels like your heart stops - Very large chest wound like he was impaled, but for some reason his chest is intact; it - looks like it has been healed for a single day… Not that it matters. It’s only a little less raw.
Kon - Sometimes, Kon feels there’s a crushing weight on him - A cut that runs from the base of his neck, across his face, then ends at the corner of his forehead. Maybe a day healed. - Cuts all over his body, maybe a day healed. - Boar teeth across his stomach like he was bit in half, also a day healed
Lux - The jolt you get before death - Deeper cuts all over her body where her armor doesn’t cover, they are a day healed - A large slightly healed wound starts at the middle of her stomach, then drags to her side. (imagine tusk stabbed her in the middle and ripped to the side completely). There's still flesh there, fortunately.
These wounds all... Hurt. They hurt bad. Also, you have a new friend! It's a floating book and he spins around, floating around and looking at each one. Claude and Lux might recognize him. ]
