(ROLE) HONOR SOCIETY

On Monday at 6 PM, Yamato and Rita receive an encrypted e-mail.

Good day. They say that idle hands are the devil's playthings, don't they? So if you'd be kind enough to entertain me, please gather at the "Bakery" at dusk.

We'd best be getting to work. Come alone, for your safety and everyone else's.

No one is in the halls as the two of them creep to the "Bakery".

Before they knock, the door will open before their knuckles so much as touch against the surface of the door. The room is filled with the comforting and warm aroma of assorted baked goods, along with the occasional stray scent of something that doesn't belong - is that hot sauce? A table has been set off to the side, topped off with an elegant tablecloth and a vase full of fresh flowers that certainly aren't there during business hours. The table is set for teatime with a kettle full of perfectly steeped tea, dainty containers of sugar and milk, and a small tower of delectable finger sandwiches.

In addition, there appears to be a few items handwritten on fine stationary in curling calligraphy, though it appears a bit shaky in sections. For your use, there also appears to be a pen, a highlighter, and a small pad of sticky notes.

» Members of the Honor Society have the following responsibilities: conduct searches for killers, assist others in completing their Extra Credit Assignments, and encouraging the exchange of vouchers for goods and services on campus.

» Each week, the Honor Society must agree upon one person to conduct a search on. They will be able to know if this person has killed, if they possess an additional role, and receive a list of every person they have conversed with over the past week.

» Members of the Honor Society will be expected to report upon their progress of assisting others with Extra Credit. If Members of the Honor Society have successfully assisted others, they will be able to receive one voucher themselves as well as additional information gleaned by the Society Director.

» Of course, the greatest organizations are meant to grow and evolve. Some weeks, you will be able to select provide a list of three to four additional candidates of who you would like to invite to join the Honor Society. Viola will approve one person's membership, limitations and growth pending.

» Outside of the Honor Society, you may not express your membership to anyone. Each week, one person outside of the Honor Society may be made aware of its existence and its membership. You must all agree on this person before telling them. However should that number be broken, grave consequences will follow.

We haven't talked before, but you're in Taichi's dorm, right? He's mentioned you a few times. I'm Yamato. ... Nice to meet you.

[ despite everything. gives a weary look at the bakery. ]

So what do you think of this?

[ it's meant to be reassuring, but yamato also just assumes taichi saw someone else with brown hair and goggles and assigned them kin? he does not say that ]

... Honestly, I don't trust that it's just a precautionary measure. [ viola is right there and yamato has no qualms accusing her of lying ] But right now, we need all the help we can get to try and figure our way out of this mess, and nothing we'd be doing sounds... bad. So I'm willing to go along with it for now.

[rita listens... and gives a little nod.]

Still feels like we're being jerked around, but I'd rather have more information than less.

So... yeah. I'm in.

Yeah. So...

We've got options. This week, we can offer people to be recruited and tell one other person about this, on top of being able to... spy on someone. We won't find a killer for sure, but it'd be good t know what these roles are.

[ ... he shoves his hands in his pockets ]

For the first two, I think my preference is obvious, but we're partners here, so I want to hear your opinion too.

Taichi? [she considers, and shrugs.] I don't know if he's the best candidate, but I won't argue if you want him on the short list.

[she leans her elbows on the table.]

Feels weird to spy on someone when they probably haven't done anything wrong. So, what, do we pick someone that neither of us know much about? Or someone who seems likely to have also been picked for something like this?

Taichi's a lot better at things like this than he lets on. He's our leader and my partner, and I'd trust him with my life.

[ SHE SAID SHE WASN'T ARGUING GO BE GAY ELSEWHERE but he shakes his head and. goes back to. actually discussing, leaning against the table a bit himself ]

I'm not a fan of learning stuff like who they spoke to, either. ... I think someone who seems likely would be best, but we don't even know why we were picked for certain, so I'm not sure how to point that out. So maybe for now someone we don't know might be best? If it's people we're close to and they have the same rules as us, we might luck out that they'll just tell us about it some time.

[(byleth voice) gay.]

Well... let's get back to who to invite later.

[she'll pull out her phone and start looking through profiles.]

That takes out anyone from our own dorms right now, doesn't it? So...

[ he takes out his own phone to scroll ]

...I'd feel bad spying on Yanagiya-san after what she went through, but I do wonder why she was picked yesterday. Though it's probably a coincidence. There's a lot of people I don't know that well right now, to be honest.

You think so? I'd say there are a few people in my dorm that I hardly know anything about.

Like Sakyou. He's not, like, especially cagey or weird or anything. But for a guy who's clueless about a lot of stuff, he's apparently full of surprises.

[she's scrolling through...]

Looking at the other dorms, some people I'd say are total unknowns to me... Kaine. Lan Wangji.

Mm. I think the most surprising person in fall is Caiman, but I wouldn't expect him to have something like this.

[ who would hire him to keep a secret. please. ]

Lan Wangji is serious enough he wouldn't be a bad pick for something like this. And... if opinionated really is a criteria, Kaine fits. Probably better than anyone else we named so far. [ he keeps scrolling and squints a little ]

[rita makes a face at the mention of caiman. yeah.]

If we don't have any particular reason to choose anyone, we could just put these names in a hat and draw one.

[They have pens and sticky notes, so she'll start writing down those named so far.]

Anyone you feel like adding?

... Kon Shinonome? I don't think his glitched ID means anything, but we might as well throw his name in there. I think that's all.

[rita shrugs, and makes a note with kon's name. with all of them together, they've got:

Otome Yanagiya. Sakyou Sagihara. Kaine. Lan Wangji. Kon Shinonome.]

Yeah. That should be good for this week.

[ with the implication being that they can start paying... better attention... from now on... ]

[she nods, then folds up the names and mixes them in an empty teacup.]

Here goes.

[she draws one and unfolds it...]

Hmph. All that talk and we just come back to the first name.

[she drops the paper on the table, which reads Otome Yanagiya.]
