[he will at least be polite (?) enough to wait by the door in case chad gets stuck again! he is anticipating this.]

[a panda comes waddling its way to the library entrance.]

[chad manages to go through with the practice of someone who might've gone through the library doors a lot.]

Better than nothing. [the door closes and taichi follows after him, mostly making sure the panda won't crash into furniture or people. it doesn't seem like he was lying though given that he's got a book in his hand, but he adjusts the sleeve of his jacket as he shifts the book to his other hand.]

You guys still have to go to classes and everything like this? [maybe it's small talk before he gets to the crux of things, but also. guys. your lives.]

I did tell you there were better things you could be doing with your time.

You did. And I told you that it's my time so I'm choosing to use it how I want.

We're here. [he glances at chad but, like, it's annoying he's a panda because he can't even see what his expression might look like? so he has to guess.]

Couldn't I say the same to you, actually? You could always tell people you're busy, it's not like we'd know the difference.

Responding to your requests comes with being a Dorm Head.

What makes you say that? Or, I guess, why do you say that?

[dormheads]

Part of life is dealing with things that you don't care for. Not to mention, responsibility rarely goes hand in hand with happiness.

[goalsides]

[...well. that's not inaccurate, and once again taichi is thinking about. too much. so there's a lull of silence as they walk through the library and head for the next floor to where the books are.]

So how much responsibility have you had that you didn't care for?

[dormheads]

It doesn't matter. I agreed to them, and I don't regret my decisions.

[goalsides]

It sort of matters. Even if you don't regret it and even if you agreed to it, it doesn't change the fact that it happened.

[dormheads]

I would rather have what I have than none at all. It's not some kind of burden detrimental to my life.

[goalsides]

Even if it means you aren't making friends? [just. pointing that out.]

That's not a priority.

Then what're your priorities? Being professional and being our dorm head, yeah, but what else?
