FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 1

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

Probably...this time my mom and I were window shopping at a pet store. A chocobo chick came over to sit on my head... and then it pooped on me. I remember being really embarrassed at the time, but my mom tried to feel better by saying a bird pooping on you means good luck... and that nobody would even notice before we got home, because my hair's white, anyway.

[ ah, he actually lets out a little chuckle. ]

She was kind of a weirdo.

[ghoststrums]

[ he lets out a bit of a laughed out huff, too ]

I've heard that one too. I bet it doesn't feel lucky, though. [ wait actually a second-- ] You said chocobo? Alphinaud has those, too.

—He does? [ beat ] I guess that makes sense, actually, because he knew about moogles, too... and this was before it was public knowledge that we're from different worlds. I should probably bring that up to him sometime...

[ghoststrums]

Maybe it's like how there's a bunch of different versions of Earth here. You guys are from parallel but similar worlds? [ he's? trying to guess? ] Oh, and. Truth I guess.

Oh, like...your world and Otome's.

—And, uh, what about... what's your happiest memory with your brother?

[ghoststrums]

[ oh. hm. it's depressing to say anything from before the divorce, but he's also totally blanking on anything more recent. ]

Ah... I doubt Takeru remembers it. But when he was a kid, he said my name as his first word. Kinda hard to beat that.

[Imagine if he asked something really bullying right now. Tell me how your mother died. No, but he sort of gets what Yamato was going for.]

Who is. . . the person here who is funniest to talk to.

Hm...probably Ichiro. Like, I'm not trying to make fun of him– but I feel like it's easier to laugh around him, if that makes sense.

It does. He's a cheerful guy, wouldn't seem to take offense even if you were making fun, just wants people to be happy. A good thing to be, right?
