FALL COMMON ROOM - WEEK 1

The common room of the Fall Dorm has soft, dimmer lighting; plush carpet over wood; and several comfortable chairs and sectionals. A few big windows overlook the dormitory area of campus, but there is also a single, cozy bay window on one side.

A television and bluetooth surround-sound are here for Fall students who are more inclined to be tech savvy. In the cabinets under the entertainment stand are an assortment of board games, but the television does have a generic "free tv" app for shows and music.

Above the enormous center fireplace is a moody painting.

This week, there's something else.

specialty room.

Through a door on the first floor, there is an antigravity room. Stepping just a few feet through the doorway will lift everyone up into the air. The seating and most of the rest of the room remains somehow rightfully in place on the floor and will not move. Students, however, can grab pillows and blankets, cups or bowls, or other small items to bring into the air with them.

[The entirely of the Fall Dorm has been decorated for Halloween inside and out. The spooky vibe is going all in, but there's also a lot of wholesome playfulness to everything. The table in the common room has been adorned with snack goodies of all kinds: candy, chocolate, popcorn, candy apples, and apple cider.

There's a small chest beside the table on the floor. When each student opens it, inside will be a single Halloween costume of choice made to fit them perfectly. (This can be an OOC or IC choice.) Unfortunately, the costume won't come with any props. It's just the costume. When and if they put the Halloween costume on, they'll feel an extreme urge to go trick-or-treating around campus. Time to demand candy from others, and then trick them if they don't hand any over!

Sorry about what's been going on. I'm doing my best to figure it out. I hope it won't ruin the last little bit of fall for you. I didn't think our dorm's season was going to be so messy.

P.S. Help me decorate the dorm porch?

Out on the dorm porch is a row of large pumpkins, one for each Fall Dorm student. Nearby is a collection of pumpkin carving kits and flameless tea candles. The carving kits won't leave the Fall Dorm, and once a jack-o-lantern has been finished, the kit used will disappear. An example pumpkin is already there! It looks like this.]

[ Morning of the first day, Caiman's gonna be around decorating the porch with those pumpkins. He has no design sense (or really, Hole's design sense overall is a bit strange) but he's making an effort. Putting all the pumpkins around, dropping fall leaves and smaller gourds. Putting toilet paper on the bushes. All with GHOSTS glowing bright on his back.

Fall Dorm is gonna be the best and most festive dorm damn it. ]

[ just for the record yamato made a pumpkin? it looks a little like this. hopefully the carving kit understands that the reason he stabbed the knife into the pumpkin is for aesthetic because he can't get an axe, otherwise it will just look like an odd face.

but he tried and he also helped decorate. ]

[Lalli is not carving a pumpkin but he is collecting the pumpkin seeds. For Something.]

[ there's a sound. a rhythmic rumbling that some of you may recognize as the sound of running washing machines. should you follow it to the fall dorm laundry room you will find:

lux and lalli, sitting on the floor in the middle of the room. they have some board games next to them, though they aren't open. lux is holding up one very tiny sock, while lalli has the other. they both look vaguely confused? also lux is wearing this.

there are several running washing machines, but laundry is only in one of them. one of the machines towards the back of the room is slowly overflowing with bubbles. they are both ignoring it. ]

Well, it was a lesson learned, I suppose?

Okay, uh, better question– why are you wearing Yamato's clothes?

Well - he's wearing mine.

[ he can only ask the question so many times before he just gives up ]

[ you know what he's going to go and start turning the washing machines off, starting with the bubbling one, because he for some reason needs to be the responsible one today, ]

Oh. That's how you turn it off?

Kind of hard not to when you're both acting really weird about it!

[ he doesn't mean for it to be an outburst, but these things happen :( ]

[ she isn't bothered by the outburst, but still doesn't give a better answer. ]

Do friends not exchange clothes, at times? I think I've read of such things happening in books.

Yeah. Most electronics have a power button or switch. If it doesn't have the words "power" or "on/off" on it, it's usually a symbol that looks like a circle with a line going through the top.

Actually, wait, if he has your clothes, then where is he? Was he with you and Lalli whenever...all this happened?

No, he wasn't here. I'm not sure where he is, though.

[ somehow everyone is here sometime on tuesday. i am also sorry that it has to be tuesday, but yes he's still in lux's clothes and she's still in his. and people are biting. none of this is relevant? absolutely none of it. it's just a thing.

Anyway, yamato looks serious! yes despite everything else. ]

About the extra credit assignments, I've learned a few things I think you should all know. First, doing them might help all of us out in the long run. The better a dorm "does" in this school, which includes things like extra credit, the more the dorm heads can have access to things like information for us, and other stuff. That's why, if you need assistance doing any of them, I'm willing to help.

Also-- you can share what your extra credit task is with one or two other people maximum privately, but depending on the task it might not count if they learn about it beforehand. Like... having to lie to someone wouldn't work if you warn them, but something that would be impossible without working with someone else is fine. It's a case by case basis, so be careful of the wording.
