[Sieghart drags his feet. He doesn't want to be up here! He wants to go downstairs, where it's just a little closer to the ground! So he opens his eyes (HNNNG) just long enough to locate and reach for the ladder.]
[oh my gooood they're being followed? Catra lets out a low snarl in the back of her throat before she too scrambles (LIMPS) towards the ladder to make her way down. with. . . great difficulty, but hey, she's trying]
Hey, Claude! You've got weapons, right? I'll do the fancy flying!
[SHE WILL DO HER BEST TO DODGE WHILE CLAUDE HITS BOMB]
[Fancy flying while also trying to launch a bomb is an interesting combination. Doing both at the same time admittedly does release a bomb in the direction of the other airship - it's similar to a cannonball, soaring through the air. The other ship was just barely able to get into position time however, and fires a round of bullets in the direction of the bomb - resulting to an impact midair.
Hopefully Sieg doesn't get airsick as well, because the resulting explosion makes their airship rock a little bit. The other airship takes more of the damage from the bomb, but it nonetheless shoots one more rocket at them, trying to knock them right out of the sky. Claude won't be able to deploy another weapon, however - it seems like the system's fried after two shots, overheating. Maybe you should've taken the airship that Impey wanted you on? It sounded fancier.
I'm going to need Catra to roll on her fancy flying. :) ]
[SIEG YOU BINCH JUST ACCEPT HELP says no one in this group full of people who don't accept help, probably.
Anyway this tag is largely useless, Sakyou will seat himself at the top of the ladder so he can get the view through the full spread of windows on the second floor as everyone else is currently on the first. They've got the navigation and now-defunct weapons systems covered, so he's just keeping an eye on the movement of the ENEMY AIRSHIP.]
[He's just reached the base of the ladder, his feet firmly on the first floor, when the explosion rocks airship. The more rational part of him hangs tightly onto the ladder in order to avoid falling over, and the irrationally fearful part of him decides that it's best if he stays where he is. Something to grab onto is good.
Jumping and crashing are both bad, but in line with their luck.
As much as he'd love to help, he's literally paralyzed by fear.]
[Catra is ignoring most everything else happening in this ship in an attempt to maneuver the thing out of the line of fire! don't blow us up, please! she's doing her best!!]
The other airship is slowly falling out of the sky, but the downside of this roll means that the missile they launched manages to rip right through the upper half of the deck that they were on. They aren't immediately destroyed by the missile, but it does mean that their floor suddenly faces a lot of destruction as it's separated from the air balloon portion of the airship.
[if i had actually had him stand near the windows to look like i initially planned this would have been so fucking funny holy shit
But since he's at the top of the ladder leading into the first floor, he fortunately has time to see the wholeass incoming missile and jump below deck for cover. i'm kind (???) enough to leave him alive but i'm not kind enough to leave him uninjured so after a roll, he's spraining his right ankle in the drop and also probably getting a blast of hot debris on his way down. It's fine, he's got the pain tolerance of a tank and barely even seems to flinch as he tries to regain his bearings which HE CANNOT BECAUSE NOW THEY'RE PLUMMETING TO HELL.
He acts fast, immediately rushing toward where the fuckin parachutes are and strapping one on. Somehow, he seems to know exactly how to wear it??]
Here—! [HE'LL THROW THE OTHER ONE toward whoever will catch it,, and then fucking grab Sieghart come here grandpa let him gently embrace you with his steel arms from hell.] Get ready to jump!
[From like the ramp or something it's fine. Their whole ship is crumbling there's surely some hole to fuckin jump out of. WHICH HE WILL DO ONCE HE FINDS ONE, WITHOUT PAUSE?!]
[ The next attack hits and the ship just explodes into the chaos that this CYOA team has been demonstrating all along. Claude doesn't manage to stay on his feet this time, going flying across the deck until he slams into—something, a console, his head spinning and his ears ringing when his head collides with the wall.
And then the ship lurches again, this time distinctly Down, though he's so out of it he hardly notices. He thinks he might be bleeding, and his vision is blurry when he opens his eyes. ]
We need to jump.
[ He's like, really out of it, but he manages to crawl to where Sakyou throws the second parachute, though, like an idiot, he prioritizes finding Catra instead of pulling it on. ]
[The sound of the airship's demise doesn't fill him with dread as much as that terrible, terrible sensation of sinking. He nearly loses his heart when he feels Sakyou's landing in front of him. Some of the hot debris cut his hand on the way down, but superficial scratches are nothing to falling.
His eyes snap open as he's embraced, allowing the parachutes to be taken from him. His breath catches and he nearly passes out right then and there when Sakyou jumps with him in tow. He clings with one hand like his life depends on it, because it does.]
[well, the impact absolutely sends Catra flying and then crashing against one of the panels of buttons. she slams into the panel with enough force to knock the wind out of her, for stars to briefly leap across her vision. when she shakes her head and comes to, she can feel bruises across her ribs, and the white hot pain of her leg injury is back]
[motherfucker!!]
[with a loud hiss, she scrambles up onto all fours. she knows the parachutes are around here somewhere, but last she checked Sieghart had them-- oh, there's Claude, searching for her]
Put it on, you moron!! Now!
[she skids towards Claude and reaches for the parachute to yank it from him and hook it properly over his arms and back, before she just. clings to his shoulders like a koala with claws. speaking of claws, those are totally digging tightly, fearsomely, into his skin]
Metal groans and rings as the airship falls apart, all four of them scrambling to put their parachutes on. They'll be falling faster given the added weight, but as they get out of the airship, they will be able to notice that there seems to be an island not too far away -
But they'll have to be pretty careful as they're about to make a water landing. The initial impact will be hard - can all of you even swim? We're about to find out.]
Anyway Sakyou can swim, but he sure is going to have a time swimming in salt while covered in shrapnel wounds. The impact against the surface also further busts his ankle, fracturing it! He can have a fractured knee as a treat too, rng is being so kind to him. He will continue to tank his way through this through sheer righteous determination.
WAIT ACTUALLY DID SIEG PASS OUT. Please, the hilarity of Sakyou having to carry this baby koala all the way to shore. Regardless of how conscious his koala is, he'll call out to the others first after resurfacing with sputtering out spits of nasty ocean water. He's quick to shimmy out of the parachute, disentangling himself from the cords and fabric as it bogs down heavily with water.]
Has everyone made it? Take care—!
[AGGRESSIVE SWIMMING TOWARD THE ISLAND TIME. If Sieg needs to regain his bearings, that's fine, Sakyou will support him with one arm and use his Remaining Limbs To Swim. He has twink otome arms of unnatural steel even if they're a bit busted, it's fine. Actually he might insist on helping even if Sieghart protests because they don't have time for sky ukes here, but he won't put up too much of a fuss if he really insists on swimming on his own.]
[ The fact that they even manage to escape and sail to the ground is a miracle thanks only to Catra, though the good luck is brief when a piece of flying shrapnel cuts through their parachute, sending them careening toward the water.
The impact is hard, hard enough that Claude's so busy being relieved that he doesn't snap his neck that he can't be too mad at the pain searing through his left side, his shoulder ripping from the joint.
Blood clouds his vision for a moment before he's sputtering up for air, embroiled in a pathetic struggle to escape the parachute so that he can really slowly swim toward the shore. ]
Catra. [ He does check to make sure she's okay before he starts moving. ] Catra, are you okay?
[If nothing else, Sieghart is glad to be in the water, far away from the sky.
The freezing temperature and adrenaline pumping through his body numb him to the worst of the pain when their harsh entry shatters part of a bone in his leg and dislocates his right wrist. The impact also rips the bandaid straight off his face, but nobody should be looking there right now.
Fortunately, they're in water. It does half the work of carrying their weight as Sieghart breaks through the surface with a gasp for breath. He separates himself from Sakyou with the push of his left hand against a shoulder.]
Don't mind me!
[Sakyou should take care of himself first. Sieghart transfers his sword to his left hand—he doesn't even feel the minor fracture in that arm—and makes for the island. A comminuted fracture in the leg isn't that crippling as long as he's careful.]
[THIS IS CATRA'S WORST NIGHTMARE?? the airship being torn asunder, their parachute being ripped into shreds during their descent, and a much-higher-than-what-is-comfortable-even-for-a-cat plummet right into. . . a large expanse of water!! fuck her life, honestly. fuck it dearly]
[she hits the water hard, pain exploding once again over her leg as the bullet wound is aggravated and as a bone cracks in her arm. she is pretty sure some of her ribs are fractured too?? this sucks!! this sucks a lot!!]
[nevertheless. . . despite the pain, she scrambles to surface, gasping for air once her head breaks water and gulping it down like a thirsty camel in a desert even though the movement sends streaks of fire through her torso. she hears Claude's voice garbled by the water and manages to sputter out a response]
I'm-- fine! I'm okay!
[she is not but who is counting?? her leg is bleeding again!! and a fractured arm + bullet wound in the leg + possibly cracked ribs means swimming is hard, but she is somehow managing through the power of pure adrenaline. ISLAND, HERE WE COME]
Honestly you all fucked yourselves up so much, I'm not going to give you more to worry about. Please be mindful of the airship debris falling from the sky - but it's making a crash landing elsewhere and not just directly on top of you. That's my kindness because you all broke your own ribs before I assigned them.
Anyway.
The ocean's waters are calm enough for everyone to be able to get to the shore, more than a little broken up. After a short expanse of sand, there's a grove of trees - but as they were swimming over, they might've seen a few rather old-looking rooftop peeking over the top. Over the top of the trees there's the reflection of different colors, sunshine bouncing off stained glass. Seems like the chapel they need to make it to is a little further in.
Though as they make it out of the water, there's a crackling against their necks - familiar static. Waterlogged as the collars are, the voice comes in a little incomplete.]
[i hope that you had like an entire battle or a bunch of enemies ready to roll out. i hope they were standing on the shoreline waiting and then just watched us all fall out of the sky and crush our bones and went "well anyway bye" and just packed it up and went home for the day.
Anyway Sakyou like everyone else is full of ADRENALINE and also just is the sort of genuinely horrific person who can and will walk on a broken bone with a stoic face. He's like a pet cat, damn.
It's still a struggle to swim all the way to shore though even without having to carry Sieghart like a koala baby, and it's only his freakish determination to get to that damned chapel that has him practically clawing through the shorebreak and staggering to his feet. EVERYTHING HURTY and when everything hurty that means it's easier to ignore the hurty!! Surely this is logic. Anyway he's immediately starting to make a beeline toward the multicolored reflection, or as much of a beeline as any of them can make in this situation, but he's also looking over his shoulder to get stock of their awful fuckin ragtag group and make sure no one's floating dead in the waves.]
Are you all alright—?!
[He will absolutely turn around to help carry and/or drag anyone who seems to be lagging or struggling. OTHERWISE THOUGH TIME TO KEEP NYOOMING BECAUSE IF THEY STOP NYOOMING THEY'LL DIE.]
[ Claude looks both defeated and furious. He's also kind of wonky, leaning heavily on one side, and basically reflecting his inside on the outside.
Under his breath, he's just muttering, ] If we get out of here, I'm setting this collar on fire.
[ Given that Catra is right with him, he will probably try to help if he sees her struggling, but also he only has one arm, so he'll leave that to Sakyou while he soldiers on toward the cathedral, frowning deeply as the lot of them progress pathetically. ]
We need to be careful there's no ambush lying in wait.
[Arriving at shore, Sieghart gets onto his knees in the sand, drops his sword, and looks down at his deformed right wrist. This won't do. Gritting his teeth, he grabs his right hand with his left and pulls, guiding the dislocated bone back into place.]
Ugh!
[It hurts, of course. He pants from the effort, because he isn't emotionally repressed like Sakyou. Fortunately, his right hand, though shaking from the pain, feels fine and his wrist no longer looks out of shape. It's probably discolored under his glove, but he keeps that on as a half-hearted splint.
Climbing onto his feet with his sword in hand again, he eyes the group in front of him. The bandaid's absence bares the words that he was hiding under his visible eye: DEATH BEFORE REVENGE.]
Hey, Claude. What's wrong with your shoulder? Let me reset it.
[she is, like. . . really not okay. as they sputter and crawl to shore, she begins coughing, each heave sending more pain shooting through her entire body, like crystalized ice and needles sticking through her veins. she barely registers Sakyou and Claude's voices. she barely registers the words now apparent on Sieghart's face. her vision is swimming, her leg is dripping both water and blood, and everything just]
[aches]
[especially now that the adrenaline is wearing off. and so, thank goodness Claude is there, because once they are safely on dry land she is passing the fuck out from a combination of blood loss and pain, promptly going limp in Claude's grasp. GOODNIGHT EVERYONE]
[fortunately Aki said Sakyou would carry her so we can continue on towards the chapel instead of spending another tag round going uuuh what happened to our cat]
I'm really proud of them though. This is such a revenge-driven group! Interesting to note. Just think that's neat.
Catra gets carried, Sieg provides some medical attention, and the rest of them Determinator on through! They came proceed the rest of the way through the jungle - the occasional hiss of a snake or buzz of insects might put them off a bit - but at least they're right to follow the reflected color.
And there's a cry of something not quite human suddenly - pained and distressed. Some voices can be heard at lower volumes, arguing, before muffled. The people still conscious might be able to pick them out as people they haven't heard from in some time, or even some voices they're used to hearing from campus. After a bit of time, a path opens straight ahead and they'll realize that the chapel has seen better days. It's a little run down, part of it more ruins than functioning church, but there's still some mysterious beauty to it.
They can continue straight down the path, or they can circumvent it to stay within the cover of foliage. But the church is right there - and those voices might be some that you can't ignore.]
[us: dancing around revenge tropes all cyoa dana, forcibly banging our noggins into their shared vengeance:
Well, he'll cast the other two a worried look but it seems they've got their...limb realignment handled well enough. He's got one (1) cat now!! OUR CAT. It's fine. He's trying not to jostle her around too much while they go so she's not in any further pain, oof. He's also absolutely not put off by any snakes or insects or pain or literally whatever the fuck man this guy has laser-guided focus that refuses to quit. Is it really emotional repression if you just react to pain like an alien!!!
Also for hilarity he sheds some broken glass out of his clothing that some of yall can step on if you decide to be mean. It's... the remnants of the heart bottle that was still on his person, which didn't survive the fall... That's probably left some more stabbies on him too, god bless, glad for my terrible roll luck. Hopefully we didn't need that.
ANYWAY. The good thing(????) about being responsible for this waterbottle Catra is that he's like, .5% more likely to be cautious than he would be on his own. Which means he considers sticking by the foliage for 5 seconds longer than he otherwise would before continuing straight down the path WISH HE WASN'T LIKE THIS. It's fine, he's figuring he can just shield Catra with his tiny twink body if anything goes wrong. THE VOICES, HELLO.]
[ claude, 5 minutes ago: we need to be wary of an ambush claude, now: RUNNING FULL SPEED INTO DANGER
Unfortunately, Claude is more or less delirious from his own injuries, the searing pain still running down his left side, and the pounding of his head. Also, I'm going to say a snake bit him (non-venomous), just because it's been that kind of week. And when they reach the edge of the trail, his first instinct is to stop, to be wary.
But all that goes down the drain very quickly, ] S—...
[ He cuts off, tired, but with a sudden well of energy, just bolts into the building as fast as his wonkyass body will take him. It's probably a trap, but he's got his impotent smoke bomb gripped in one hand. It won't work, but maybe he can lob it at someone's eye. ]
