SUMMER COMMON ROOM - WEEK 3

The common room is as bright and open as the rest of the dorm. Beanbag chairs and even more hammocks are situated around for any of your resting needs, because who needs couches? There are a few blankets on the couch just for comfort, but the temperature is never cold enough to need them because of chill. There's also an absurd amount of pillows.

The walls are decorated with paintings that are either modern art pieces or done by kindergarteners. There are also photographs tacked onto the walls as well, of seemingly random things like a vase of flowers, a mailbox, a bird on a tree branch. The photos are less about grand views and feels more like someone testing out a camera.

On a table is a welcome basket.

In the common room, there's a door that leads to what can only be described as an Occult Room for some strange reason. Unlike the rest of the dorm, this room is dimly lit and is crowded with items—a skeleton that may or may not be real, taxidermy animals, really creepy looking dolls, an actual coffin, etc. On a table to the side is a Ouija board, a few tarot decks, and crystal ball.

[ Nier doesn't quite like it, but doesn't hate it. Mandy can pet his hair. It is very soft, very fluffy. Much bunny. ]

I'm ready for this week to be over.

Same. I...I'm already tired thinkin' about tomorrow.

[He looks sheepish.]

I'm glad to hear that. Dates seem fun based on how people are planning.

I didn't have the time to back at home. Can't say I was that interested, either.

I mean...I was busy, too, and I had a relationship. Though...maybe you shouldn't look at my example...didn't work out...

You had a relationship?

[One would think he'd look sheepish or embarrassed, but he just looks...distant. A little tired.]

Yeah. A long time ago, I did.

I just... Wasn't expecting.

[ Even this reaction is not expected. ]

[He's silent at that...and of course, a memory takes the opportunity to spring forward. This one is brief.]

[The king that is Mandricardo and a beautiful woman are sitting on a bed in a bedroom. He is putting on parts of his armor, while she has draped her arms around him, like she can't let him go. She's crying into his shoulder, and through her tears, she speaks: how terrified she is, that he is about to go into a duel against another over some emblem on his shield that the other man holds, and Mandricardo wants nothing more than to have for his own. He is a man of pride and rage, and he fights so often, and she can no longer stand it, pleading for him to reconsider his choice. This is not a battle she believes he should go to.]

"If of small value life to you appear,
And you esteem a painted bird more high,
At least for my life's sake esteem yours dear;
For one without the other shall not die.
With you to die excites in me no fear;
With you, prepared for life or death am I:
Yet would I fain not die so ill content,
As I should die if you before me went."
[And Mandricardo pauses in his donning of armor...and then turns to her, grasping her face and kissing her forehead, her cheeks, her lips, sweetly and tenderly kissing away her tears - even though, as he moves away, one can see tears of his own flowing down his cheeks. He reassures her, moved, saying that he is a mighty champion, and that this is just a mere man standing in his way. How many acts of bravery are behind him? Far too many to count. And it is not an emblem that moves him, but honor itself, since that emblem would allow him to stand more powerful, united with the other kings in the warfront, a symbol of might that nobody could argue against. She shouldn't worry. She shouldn't weep tears over some ill omen that he could lose this battle.]

[They hold each other dearly, the sun casting the new day's light through the window...and the memory fades.]

...Ha. [There's nothing but sadness in Mandricardo's face.] ...Don't pay attention to that. It...didn't work out.

[amain]

[ Uhm. This memory seems... Very romantic? Nier thinks. ]

It... Didn't?

[duranduel]

[A shake of the head.]

In the end, I wasn't swayed by her. And as it turns out, I was to die in that duel.

[...]

She abandoned me and fell in love with the one who killed me. So.

[Haha! What was his life.]

[amain]

[ HELLO?????????? ]

Mandricardo.

[ No, Nier feels awful about this. ]

...Hey. It's okay. Like I said, it was a long time ago. I made a lot of mistakes. I betrayed myself. So...I don't blame her.

[ He's just going cross-eyed without going cross-eyed. ]

Everyone makes mistakes, Mandricardo...

[He seems serious about that.]
