SUMMER COMMON ROOM - WEEK 3

The common room is as bright and open as the rest of the dorm. Beanbag chairs and even more hammocks are situated around for any of your resting needs, because who needs couches? There are a few blankets on the couch just for comfort, but the temperature is never cold enough to need them because of chill. There's also an absurd amount of pillows.

The walls are decorated with paintings that are either modern art pieces or done by kindergarteners. There are also photographs tacked onto the walls as well, of seemingly random things like a vase of flowers, a mailbox, a bird on a tree branch. The photos are less about grand views and feels more like someone testing out a camera.

On a table is a welcome basket.

In the common room, there's a door that leads to what can only be described as an Occult Room for some strange reason. Unlike the rest of the dorm, this room is dimly lit and is crowded with items—a skeleton that may or may not be real, taxidermy animals, really creepy looking dolls, an actual coffin, etc. On a table to the side is a Ouija board, a few tarot decks, and crystal ball.

Well, if it doesn't last long, then we should make as much use as the current moment as possible then, yeah?

[momming]

I think so, too.

... Is there anything you can remember or tell us that might help us set things right? Or anything that struck you as strange?

[departea]

I don't know what brought us here or anything. When I arrived here, I was just... immediately Sally. There were like two weeks before you guys came where we were genuinely preparing the dorms for you and everything.

[ it's so... weird to think about. ]

But it's... really strong. Like there were a lot of glaring red flags about me that I just ignored because of the compulsion.

[momming]

[ She frowns, sympathetically. ]

I thought it had to be something very strong, when you were so insistent you had a life and family here... do you remember these red flags? Did the bear count?

[departea]

Well, it's...

[ there's an awkward laugh. ]

I'm dead. So I can't do things like eat or drink or anything, and I don't sleep, and it was odd because there were moments where I'd acknowledge something was weird but then I'd just brush it off.

[momming]

... You're dead?

[ ANNIE????? ]

[departea]

Yeah... sometimes your now ex just gets a little murdery, you know?

[ no ]

So I'm a ghost, basically.

[momming]

... [ She blinks. ]

Well, I'll be certain to recommend you some better candidates in the future, but I could see how you'd realize things were a little. Um. Off.

... I'm sorry, that it happened to you.

[departea]

It's fine. I mean, obviously it's not fine, but there's no point in dwelling over it when we have so much going on here.

[ she glances around the dorm. it is on metaphorical fire. ]

But it shows how strong it was that it made me just accept that I was a normal human that just didn't seem to eat.

[momming]

And I imagine if I tried to point that out to you in your current state, it wouldn't necessarily snap you out of it again.

... What a strange dorm we've been, since the beginning.

[departea]

... yeah. I thought we were one of the more normal ones.

[ some of the other dorms are so much louder ]

[momming]

I wish we were one of the more normal ones.

[ Annie, we have Mabel. ]

[departea]

[ yes but they haven't been sucked into a giant couch war so she considers that a win for normalcy ]

Well... we'll just have to work with our abnormalities then.

[momming]

At the very least, those of us remaining have managed to stay alive.

... Actually, is there-- is it a problem if one dorm was to completely lose all its members?

[departea]

There shouldn't.

[ she frowns ]

Although, that's what I knew as Sally. But as of now I don't have any reason to believe so... hm.

[momming]

... And I really don't want to test that theory.

[ Let the Summers live!! ]

[departea]

[ she can't help but look a little nervous. ]

Yeah, let's try not to. We've already...

[ lost a lot. ]

[momming]

It'll be all right. I'm very fond of our dorm.

... And I will do my utmost not to let anyone hurt them.

[departea]

[ ...

she glances over at someone, her expression a little sad, then back to otome. ]

Please. I'll do what I can, too.

[momming]

[ Who you looking at, Annie-- ]

I know you will. We'll have you permanently back to normal as quickly as we can, too.

[departea]

[ aw. she smiles. ]

... thanks.

I guess we're going to be very busy.
